06 Nov 2020 – Currency – Part 4

Zachariah 9:12 Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.

Hope is the power supply that keeps the light of faith on.  Hope is the nutritious sap that feeds the substance of faith. When Paul writes to the church in Ephesus, he emphasises that it is this divine currency of hope that bestows the heavenly riches of His glorious inheritance. Ephesians 1:18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people. It is hope in our hearts that enlightens us to our new legacy in Christ; our birthrights into the kingdom of light and our authority to walk in liberty.  Faith helps us walk into the door way of the kingdom of God but it is hope that grows our spiritual health and wealth. Hope trades in the old lenses of discouragement, hopelessness and desperation  with  new lenses of “living hope” and jubilant expectation. Hope is the divine currency that trades in negative, pessimistic and pragmatic thoughts to hopeful, favourable and expectant attitude.

Hope is the joyful anticipation of the fulfilment of the promises. When we are in Christ, our hope is alive, our joy is real and our salvation is secure. 1 Peter 1:3 Praise to God for a Living Hope. Our hope in Christ is “living hope” as Christ can never fail or go back on His promises. When we are empowered with living hope there will be no fake smiles, fancy facade or forged lives.

Three changes that living hope will instil in a child of God.

1.     Words: Living divine hope will change the way we speak as it is the pathway to the promise. Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. When His promises do not depart from our lips, His hope will engulf our hearts. We cannot pray fervent prayers and talk fruitless words. When our heart hooks on to His unfailing love, our head will be filled with hopeful thoughts and our words will be living hope.

2.     Window: Divine hope is the window that we peep in, to see the paradise of promise, as we progress the pilgrim’s journey. Isaiah 41:31 But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. The currency of hope opens the windows of heaven for us to glimpse at the destination while we are still travelling the stony muddy road of indecision. Living hope will energise our faith, enlighten our path and encourage us as we head on holding on to the promises of God.

3.     Whisper: Heavenly hope is the whisper that silences the voice of despair. Hope is the constant whisper of peace that leads us to the promise. When things don’t move the way we want it or when doors close and friends abandon, Christ Himself becomes our hope of glory. It is the hardships of life that instils living hope and transforms us into a powerful testimony to the hopeless world. Colossians 1:27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Silence the screams of the enemy with the whispers of heaven.

Living hope will change our words to joyful expectation, open the window to heavenly visitation and activate the voice of divine whispers. Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Psalms 33:18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.
