22 Nov 2020 – Transits – Part 1

Ecclesiastes 3:1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven

The journey of life has different transit points. Some are pleasant transits which we presume are  permanent stays while others are debilitating transits that puncture the tyres, jamming our progress. We must remember not to make ‘life’s stages’, ‘stays’. These are only transits and not terminations – A time for every purpose under heaven. Many breakdown, become bitter and are blistered by the unpleasant transits and throw in the towel. It is only a phase, it will pass. When it rains, take shelter under the divine feathers of the Almighty God, for the sun of righteousness will shine very soon. Transits transforms and prepares us for the next move. If we become sour in an uncomfortable transit point, we will get stuck in the transit. Losing a job, relationship or control is difficult but it is not the end. Every end has a new beginning, sandwiched with a serene transit that reconnects us with the Saviour.

Esther, a young beautiful orphan exile in Persia was sent to a harem. Esther 2:8b Esther also was taken to the king’s palace and entrusted to Hegai, who had charge of the harem. She was advised by her cousin Mordecai not to reveal her identity. She was in an unknown country, culture and citadel and her future was uncertain, indecisive and indefinite. She was in the harem for twelve months waiting for the king to select her. Her patient endurance brought a triumphant end to her testing transit.

A dialogue with Esther about her experience in the  harem will give us the following insights into the  dark, dull and dim transit points of our life:

1.     Loneliness: Depressing transits are lonely. It feels like we have no one around us even when we are surrounded by people. Esther had a caring and praying cousin who had adopted her as his own daughter. Esther 2:11 Every day he walked back and forth near the courtyard of the harem to find out how Esther was and what was happening to her. He watched over her, advised and guided her through the transit from the trench to the throne. God will never leave you alone in the terrible transit. He will give us benevolent family and friends to surround, support and sustain us through the harem of lonely transits.

2.     Lowliness: Demeaning transits destroy self-esteem and inject the venom of inferiority. Do not speak about your loss, lack or lowliness. Esther 2:10 Esther had not revealed her nationality and family background, because Mordecai had forbidden her to do so. The selection committee would have been biased and  disqualified her based on her invalid licence and nationality. God worked against all odds and made an exile an elite Queen. God will change the rules in order to establish the rights of His children while they are waiting in the harem of bashful transits.

3.     Lavishness: Discouraging transits derails our morale, however, Esther won the favour of the horrendous heathens. Esther 2:15b Esther won the favour of everyone who saw her. She was in  a place where she was disqualified and disgraced but the Lord lavished favour on her. She won the favour of the caretakers in charge of the harem and finally won the favour of the King. Remain put, patient and positive in the lonely, lowly harem to be lavished with the favour of the King of Kings.

Transits are only temporary stops that prepare us for increase, abundance and enlargement. Esther’s transit at the harem took her to the throne. So, will yours treacherous transit.

Ecclesiastes 3:2 A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to get through the gloomy transits and launch us into the destiny. Amen
