21 Dec 2020 – His Name – Part 3

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The third description of the above Old Testament prophecy called Jesus “The Mighty God”. The Hebrew word “El Shaddai” is translated as “All Powerful” and “All Mighty” God. He was Mighty in birth; Herod was terrorised about the birth of the Messiah. He was mighty in works; no one could comprehend or perform miracles with authority that Jesus did and He was mighty in Word; the dead were raised, demons fled and disease left at the sound of His voice. The might of Jesus did not come from His earthly position but from His Heavenly influence. Princes and principalities shuddered at the authority and influence of Jesus. Pharisees and political leaders could not contradict or corner Jesus with their crafty questions. Jesus trapped the questioning authorities and exposed their wickedness, malice and wrongness. Jesus came to establish the ‘Kingdom of Light’ and destroy the authority of the ‘Kingdom of Darkness’.

It was by the death on the cross that Jesus transferred the authority over the demonic dark world to us. Jesus said, I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you (Luke 10:19). Devil has powers but we have the authority to nullify his powers and crush him. The keys to unlock freedom from addictions, affliction and suppression is in our hands.

The Might and authority of Jesus moves in three different areas powerfully in our lives:

1.     Freedom: The Mighty God came to set us free from the invisible prison that we have been trapped in. John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. No religion can set us free from the past. No leader has the antidote to wipe our sins clean and set us free from guilt and shame. No ritual can purify our thoughts and keep us holy and righteous, except the blood of Jesus. The power of freedom is hidden in the name of this “Mighty God”. The name of Jesus sets us free from the past, pain and perversion.

2.     Forgive: The Mighty God came to forgive our sins and break the chains for slavery. Forgiveness cannot be earned by climbing mountains or swimming across the seas because the wrong that has been done cannot be “undone”. Good deeds cannot outweigh the bad. For example, murder or adultery cannot be reversed by rituals and religiosity. Hatred is as murder and uncleanness in the heart is adultery. Matthew 5:28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Hence Jesus paid for the wrong that we have done and we receive forgiveness through the innocent blood that Jesus paid as a ransom on the cross.

3.     Fasten: The Mighty God has given us authority to fasten the devil and his demons. Matthew 18:18 “Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” We have the authority to bind the tormenting spirits, generational curses and debilitating, demeaning voices of demons. We have the authority to loose health, wealth, prosperity, peace, success and victory.

The Mighty God came on earth to transfer might, power and authority to us to overcome temptation, trail and travesty.

Romans 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Prayer: Dear Jesus thank you for transferring your might and power on us your children. We are more than conquerors through you. Amen
