27 Feb 2021 – Rain – Part 2

Genesis 7:12 Rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.

God pushed the restart button on the earth when He saw the wickedness of the human race. Every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time (Genesis 6:5b). The springs of the deep were opened and the floodgates of Heaven rained continuously non-stop for 40 days and 40 nights! The world had never witnessed such downpour of rain before. The rain and floods swept away every living thing except those who were protected in the Ark. This rain wiped the world of wickedness and rebooted the world with just Noah and his wife along with their three sons and their wives. This rain and great flood wiped out the arrogance, sins and violence of the Nephilim(giants). The flood regurgitated the perversion of the Nephilim completely and annihilated them from the face of the earth. The flood refreshed humanity and reset, restarted and resumed the plan and purpose of God again on earth.

Three metaphorical lessons from the great flood in of Noah:

1.     Vision: The torrential rains of tests, trials, struggles, sickness, redundancies, rejections or annulments were not sent to destroy us but were sent to obliterate the Nephilim(giants) in our life. Difficulties in your life do not come to destroy you, but to help you realise your hidden potential and power”. The rain, storm and floods will destroy the giants that came to swallow, ruin and tarnish us. God changed the ambience of the world and made it “Nephilim free” and then gave a new vision to Noah; “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth (Genesis 9:1). The relentless downpour of rain is to kill the giants and refresh our God given vision.

2.     Provision: It rained for 40 days and 40 nights and Noah, his family and the animals were trapped in the Ark for 150 days. They did not have television, telephones or internet to give them daily updates of ‘current affairs’ for nearly 5 ½ months. They just had to trust God for information, protection and provision. The ark was only 1/3 the size of Titanic yet, it provided for all the animals, birds, reptiles and humans on board. The provision must have been multiplying throughout the journey in the ark. Madam Corrie Ten Boon mentions in her book “The Hiding Place”, that the cough drops for her sister in the German concentration camps kept going for months and months supernaturally until they could get more supplies. Every time they needed the medicine, there was another drop! God will provide us supernaturally when He quarantines us from the rest of the world.

3.     Introspection: Rain keeps us trapped in the Ark to tap into divine understanding, reasoning and plan. Only introspection, reflection and reasoning through the rainy days, will recalibrate our lives. Experience is not the best teacher, evaluated experience is – John C Maxwell. When we overcome a flash flood, heavy rain or a violent tempest, the wisest thing to do is to evaluate our experience and learn valuable lessons. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result – Albert Einstein. After the rain of disappointments, discouragements and dissolutions, introspect, reflect and correct.

Rains that turn into floods are to clean the clutter, destroy the giants of fear, sickness or lack and reinstate vision back into our lives.

Genesis 9:16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures.

Prayer: Lord, let the torrential rain of struggles, trials and troubles cleanse the clutter from my life. Revive, reform and restore me after the flood of temptation. Amen
