1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Have you heard people lamenting “No one understands my antagonising anguish!”? That is not true. God knows the details of our temptation, trial and test. He knows every stroke, strike and sting of our suffering and He will make sure that we will not be tempted beyond what we can bear. What we are going through is very much within the “tolerance level”. It is only in the heat of the furnace that we will be refined as gold. Remember satan could not touch Job until God permitted him and the limits were spelled out clearly. Job 2:6 The LORD said to satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.” The Lord God was confident that suffering will not swindle Job’s trust in Him.
The suffering we are going through could be a test of faith like Job or could even be the consequence of our silly choices; yet God will not tempt us beyond what we can handle. In our suffering He will provide a way out to endure it. God is not deaf to the slander, gossip and smear that has sliced our reputation or is not blind to the injustice, inequality and infidelity. He will not remain silent to the malign of the enemy when we trust Him. After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before (Job 42:10).
God is in control of all the details even in our suffering:
1. Line: The tempter cannot cross the line of protection. Exodus 12:23 He will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe … He will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down. Apply the blood of Jesus over the doorframe of your brow and belongings; your possessions and passions. Our forehead is the doorway to our mind and our inner man. Draw a bloodline that the deceiver the devil cannot cross. The devil cannot cross the bloodline of Jesus.
2. Limit: The crisis that we face may be out of our control but it is not out of God’s control. Our efforts may remain static and our endeavours might not make any progress yet, God is in control. Job 38:10-11 And I placed boundaries on it. And set a bolt and doors; And I said, ‘Thus far you shall come, but no farther; And here shall your proud waves stop’ It is the Almighty who has bolted the sea and has set boundaries to the oceans. Geological survey can only warn but not stop the storms and Tsunamis. It is God who bolts the raging seas and the rough oceans. Nothing can cross the borderline of God Almighty.
3. Loop: There is a sphere, a ring or a circle of protection around us. Psalms 34:7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them. We have a loop of angelic protection encircling us 24/7. It is only when we step out or wander out of God’s protective loop does the devil have access to smite us. God’s children live under a bubble of His protection.
Our dear Lord is in absolute control of our circumstance, crisis and confusions. We will not be tempted beyond what we can bear.
Psalms 125:2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people both now and forevermore.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, help me to rest on your lap in quite comfort and trust that you are in control over my life. Amen
