Google gets its name from “googol”, the number 1 followed by 100 zeros and was picked to signify the humongous data and information that this search engine was intended to hold. Science Focus estimates that Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Facebook collectively store at least 1,200 petabytes. A thousand gigabytes equals a terabyte (or 1 million megabytes). So, 1,200 petabytes is 1.2 million terabytes. Though the jargons such as gigabytes, terabytes and petabytes echo the massive amount of data that is available on the search engine, the resources from the Bible are unlimited. The depth of the riches of His wisdom and knowledge are unsearchable, inscrutable and unfathomable.
Another very important difference between Google and the Bible is that the knowledge, derivations and facts from a dataset from Google is limited to the specifics contained in the information whereas from the same passage or portion of the Bible, new revelations can be siphoned over and over again. The deeper we delve the sweeter the stream and richer the reservoir of the Word would be. There is no limit to the provision, resources or storage space capacity issues in the divine treasury.
What is the data size of your Bible knowledge?
1. Megabytes: 1024 kilobytes is one megabyte. The Word of God must be cherished bite by bite or byte by byte. Verse by verse bite size palatable megabyte study is meditation of the Word of God. Meditating and munching over a verse until it sinks into our mental hardware renews our mind, transforms our thinking, perceptions and aspirations. The unfolding of your words gives light, It gives understanding to the simple (Psalms 119:130). Gnaw the scripture megabyte by megabyte until it is imprinted in your hearts and minds. Megabyte growth is memorizing a verse a day.
2. Gigabytes: 1,000 megabyte is one gigabyte. Scripture knowledge does not grow from megabyte to gigabyte automatically. Methodical study of the Bible by topics and books, referring to the original transcripts and translations will deepen our understanding. Text without context is a pretext. When scripture is interpreted outside the context it will be misinterpretation and build wrong theologies, ideologies and methodologies. Gigabyte size knowledge is the process of maturing in the understanding of His will through the scriptures. Investing our time to acquire Bible knowledge will amplify the volume of His voice in our soul.
3. Petabytes: Periodic and disciplined study of the Scriptures will ferment gigabytes into petabytes. Petabyte size knowledge of the precepts, prophecies and promises of the scripture will drive away fear, frenzy or fret. The Living Word burn like fire in our bones. Jeremiah 20:9 His word burns like a fire in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones; I’m weary of holding it in, indeed I cannot. Once the Word ignites our hearts we will overflow with His compassion, divine information and Godly mission. We will see His vision and speak His version. Petabytes storage of the scriptures will metamorphose us into “Walking Bibles”.
Megabyte knowledge keeps our mind renewed, Gigabyte helps us to grow and Petabyte makes us expound in Godly wisdom. Let us endeavour to grow MG into GB and explode with Petabyte level of knowledge and understanding of the Living Word.
