22 July 2021 – Small is Big – Part 7

Luke 16:10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.”

Little is plenty in God’s appraisal.  Faithfulness is the coal that accelerates momentum. The test of honesty will always be with the little that is entrusted to us. It could be cleaning the house, cooking a meal or caring for a dog. Faithfulness in the little and dedication to our daily routine will qualify us for progression, acceleration and  promotion. Never worry about the numbers. Help one person at a time and always start with the person nearest to you – Mother Teresa. The person nearest to us might need help but might not qualify to receive our help in our standards of evaluation! However, God’s assessment for our promotion will be based on our faithfulness to that annoying family member, ungrateful friend or the loud-mouthed pushy colleague or boss. Be faithful and give your best to what you are doing. 1 Corinthians 4:2 “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.”

Mother Teresa was a catholic nun, born in Macedonia to parents of Albanian-descent. She came to India as a teacher but was moved to become a missionary to serve the poor, the destitute and orphans hence founded “The Missionaries of Charity” in 1950. Her humble beginning soon became internationally recognised in 1965. When she was asked how to promote world peace, she replied, ”Go home and love your family”. Do not despise who you are, where you are and what you have.

Little is Plenty:

1.   Who: You are unique. The colour of your skin, hair and eye were handpicked by God. Your heritage, country of origin and culture were chosen by God. Enjoy yourself in your skin. There is a purpose for every detail in your life. God brought a fair skinned, small Macedonian woman to change the tables of prejudice and poverty in Calcutta. Love yourself; So you can love others as you love yourself.

2.   Where: You are positioned where you are with a purpose. Until God moves you to your next season, enjoy it. Aiming higher is rudimentary for growth but embracing the responsibilities and enjoying where you are is essential for promotion. Complaining where we are would be like wearing winter clothes in summer; we will make us hot, stuffy and uncomfortable. Enjoy where you are so you can fulfil the plan and purpose of God before you move on.

3.   What: The passion of the Albanian Nun became her purpose. The little woman soon influenced the world as she pursued her passion. “If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose.” –T.D. Jakes. Embrace what you have passionately, so you can fulfill your purpose in life

Who you are, where you are and what you have are tools and talents that will take you to where you want to be. Little is plenty if the little that we have is in the hands of the Creator, Maker and the Miracle Worker. Little is plenty in God’s hands.

Luke 16:11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?

Prayer: Dear Jesus, I will not despise my small beginnings but will fully commit to the passion that you have stirred up in my heart. Have your way in me. Little is plenty and small is big in Your Mighty Hands.  Amen.
