09 September 2021 – The Blood – Part 7

Matthew 26:27-28 He (Jesus) took a cup, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

On the cross of Calvary, Jesus became an “universal blood donor” to humanity that was infested with the incurable disease of sin. A mother who is infected with HIV will pass on the infection to the unborn baby in her womb. Similarly, sinful desires, insecurity, bitterness or pride are like bloodborne diseases to the soul. Just as aptitude and abilities are transferred through the genes, anxiety, anger and animosity are also transmitted through the bloodline. Psalms 51:5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity; And in sin did my mother conceive me.  A child does not need to be coached to become selfish, jealous or irritated. Sin had contaminated the bloodline of humanity after the fall of Adam.

Even the innocent newborn babies have the infection of ‘sin’ dormant in their blood. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Irrespective of our colour, creed or country we are all siblings who share the genes of sin from our forefather Adam. However there was one Man who was born in this world who did not share the genes of Adam. Jesus was conceived through a divine coalition of divinity with humanity. Mary was discombobulated at the announcement of the virgin birth but the angel assured her “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you (Luke 1:35).

Jesus was born with the unpolluted genes of the Almighty God. His blood remained untainted during His lifetime on earth and was poured out as an atonement and ransom for our sins at His death. His blood that has no clots of sin, coagulation of curses or contamination of sickness and is the subject matter of the Blood Covenant.  The supreme blood group of Jesus is not available in any blood bank but is only available in the Bible. The blood of Jesus is in the wine cup on the Communion Table.

The Blood Covenant reconciles our relationship with the Almighty God:

  1. Pricks: We don’t need IV injections, pricks, pierces or punctures in our veins for the blood of Jesus to be transfused or infused into our blood. We only have to sip the “communion cup” and receive forgiveness by faith. The blood covenant regenerates the genes of our Heavenly Father and reinstates our relationship with Him.
  1. Pain: There is no pain involved in the blood transfusion in the blood covenant. Unlike a normal blood transfusion that hurts, communion wine heals the lesions, abrasions and scars of the soul. Jesus said, “Drink from it” as there is no pain but the pleasure of physical and emotional healing. The blood restores peace, purity and placidity.
  1. Payment: The blood is the payment for our transgressions and misdoings. Hence, partaking in the “communion cup” cancels the debt of sin, curses and sickness. The blood reconciles us with God and resumes us to the original position of sonship.

The Bible is the ‘blood bank’ and the ‘universal donor’ is Jesus Christ. The Blood Covenant infuses the original footprint of Holiness into our genes.

John 6:24 My blood has eternal life.

Prayer:  My Dearest Jesus, I receive the wine in the communion cup as your blood that regenerates, reinstates and resumes the genes of our Heavenly Father. Amen.
