12 November 2021 – Angelic Beings – Part 1

Hebrews 1:7 Of the angels He says, “He makes His angels winds, and His ministers a flame of fire.”

Angels are created beings. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them (Genesis 2:1). The Bible refers to angels and angelic hosts over 300 times. Angels are “ministers” in the Kingdom of God. As ministers in the political arena who execute the decisions of the President, the ministering angels execute the commands of the King of Kings. Bless the Lord, O you His angels, you mighty ones who do His word, obeying the voice of His word! (Psalms 103:20).  Angels heed to the instructions, emotions and the voice of the Lord God. When the Lord God smiles, the hosts rejoice. Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Luke 15:10).

Angels will only implement the instructions of God not man.  So worshipping, praying or instructing angels are futile. Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels (Colossians 2:18). Our Comrade, Comforter and Captain is Christ who commands His ministering hosts to serve us.

Angels are the celestial ministers:

  1. Serve: Angels are servants or domestic assistants to the sons and daughters of the Kingdom to God. The moment we invite Jesus into our heart, we receive the perquisite of divine helpers and servants. Jesus was tempted by the devil during his forty-days-fast in the wilderness. Our hunger hormones are triggered during fasting and are amplified on day 1 and 2 of the fast. So, the devil must have started daunting Jesus from day 1 or 2 of His 40 days fast.  “Then the devil left Him, and immediately angels came and began to serve Him” (Matthew 4:11).  After successfully enduring the temptation, angels began to serve Him. We are unsure if the angels served Him bread from heaven or massaged His weary feet, but we certainly know that they served Him. No temptation can leave us in the harrow, hopeless or helpless. Angels are our divine helpers during temptations.
  1. Strengthen: Jesus was overwhelmed with His gruesome death on the cross that His sweat became  blood at the Garden of Gethsemane. He was at the precipice, praying for an alternate option. However, there was no course change, the cross was the only choice, but an angel was sent to strengthen Him. An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him (Luke 22:43). The angel might have been the Chief Warring – Archangel Michael. Whoever the angel was, he strengthened Jesus. In the middle of a turmoil, turpitude or terrible treachery, we are not alone. Angels are divine encouragers sent to strengthen us during trials.
  1. Secretary: Angels are our personal secretaries. “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven (Matthew 18:10). Each one of God’s precious children has an angelic overseer who never leaves them. As adults these angels become our personal companions and secretaries when we choose to follow Christ. Angels are our divine personal secretaries to endure tests.

Angels are the ministering servants of God’s children.

Hebrew 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, tutor me to delve deeper into the scriptures to understand the divine assistance that I have as the heir of the Kingdom of God. Amen.
