13 November 2021 – Angelic Beings – Part 2

Matthew 28:3-4 His(The Angel’s) appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

Angels are both “mighty and massive” yet “meek and mild”; “armed and dangerous yet “gentle and placid”. After the resurrection of Jesus, a magnificent angel came down and rolled the tombstone away. The resurrected Jesus had already walked out of the closed, cold, sealed vault. The angel opened the grave to expose the existential reality that Jesus was not in the shut sepulcher. The announcement and the appearance of the angelic being terrorized and paralyzed the security. Likewise, Daniel had an angelic visitation in Daniel chapter 10. He was terror struck, his face turned deathly pale and his hands and feet trembled but the angel comforted him, “Do not be afraid” (Daniel 10:12a). Angels are massive and mighty.

However, angels are also “meek and mild” that we don’t discern their existence around us. Hebrews 13:2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Our divine personal assistants report our whereabouts to heaven on their extraterrestrial walky-talky, 24/7. You realize, don’t you, that their personal angels are constantly in touch with my Father in heaven? (Matthew 18:10bAMP). Those who fear the Lord live in an ethos of incredibly awesome divine canopy of “the mighty” yet “meek” angelic shelter.

Angels are mighty yet meek:

  1. Mighty: The warring angels are armed, ginormous and dynamic. King Hezekiah was encircled, ensnared and engulfed  by the King of Assyria. The anguish of the King and the agony of the people of Israel echoed in heaven and the Lord sent one angel to obliterate the colossal camping army.  2 Kings 19:35 And that night the angel of the Lord went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. One Mighty Angel vs the mass = 0.
  1. Multitude: The angels are innumerable. The heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering (Hebrews 12:22b). There is no shortage of divine helpers; the deficiency of divine assistance is caused by the depravity of our prayer. The proportion of divine helpers will be equal to the atrocity of our problem and the intensity of our prayer. As Hezekiah’s prayer ascended to heaven, an angel descended to the earth to annihilate the rumpus. Unlimited divine helpers are on-call 24/7 waiting for the bidding of the Lord. Praying saint + One Angel vs the multitude = 0.
  1. Meek: Angels unlike humans aren’t arrogant. Archangel Michael met the exterminated, ex-colleague of Heaven, Lucifer(Satan) at the funeral service of Moses, yet he did not engage in unnecessary brawling with the devil. Jude 1:9 But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.” Angels are not egoistic or egocentric; they just fulfill their commission and accomplish their mission. Archangel Michael did not indulge in sarcasm, scorn or strife with the ex-employee. If Michael, the fearsome Archangel avoided squabbling with the devil, we flaccid humans have no business dabbling in the dark demonic realm. Angels are meek. Meek vs masquerader = 0.

Angels are the powerful yet placid.

Psalms 103:20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word!

Prayer: Dear Jesus, help me to realize that there is divine help of mighty angelic protection around me all the time. Amen.
