14 November 2021 – Angelic Beings – Part 3

Matthew 28:3-4 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

Angels are energetic, intelligent, sublime, secret agents of the Lord God in the spiritual realm. Their abstract presence can be felt and the empirical protection can be enjoyed everywhere the Lord is worshipped, adored and honoured. Angels invade an auditorium before the Lord ascends on the podium. They are mighty yet, subject to the Sovereign Almighty.  Angels are indescribably beautiful, bright and brilliant beings that their physical appearance could dread our naked human eyes. When John met an awesome angel at the Island of Patmos, he fell down to worship him but the angel said, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus (Revelation 19:10b).  Hence unless they have an explicit message, they serve as secret secretaries and securities.

Angels are not cute, chubby babies with wings, playing harps and floating on clouds. Heaven is their abode but they appear on the earth to fulfill God’s command. Humans don’t become angels on the other side of the grave. Angels are spirit beings who were not born but created. They do not die, marry or reproduce. They do not procreate, hence don’t multiply in number. All of God’s creations have a purpose and the functionality of angelic beings is to serve as ‘God’s undercover agents’ to fulfill His will on earth.

Angels are celestial secret agents:

  1. Resist: Angels resist those who work against the will of God. When the sorcerer Balaam went against the command of the Lord to curse Israel, “God was angry. And an angel of the Lord stood in the way against Balaam, who sat on the ass.” (Numbers 22:22). When God was infuriated, His secret military marshaled for war. We don’t have to react to a defaming smug on Facebook or Instagram. As God’s covenant children, we have the assurance that when God is upset, the divine deliverers will cause an upheaval in the tent of the slanderers. No one who fights against the will of God can prevail. Terrestrial derision will have celestial resistance.
  1. Report: Angels are news reporters. Hagar’s son Ishmael was dying of dehydration in the wilderness. Dehydration would have dumb folded the dying child. Our voice box vibrates several hundred times per second when we speak, sob or sing. Water helps thin the mucus that then lubricates our vocal cords. Humans can survive without water for 3 days but in the hot Mediterranean desert, a child would scorch in 2 days. Genesis 21:17 God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven. It was the angel who had accompanied them into the wilderness who would have reported about the dying dehydrated boy to heaven. Angels are the celestial journalists on the terrestrial.
  1. Ratio: Angels to demons ratio is 2:1. When satan was expelled from heaven, 1/3rd of the angels were banished with him. Hence we have double the strength to oppose the resisting force against us. For every bullying demon we have twice as many brawny angels. Angels are the double-glazed celestial defense against the demonic defiance.

Angels are the conduit of divine media.

Psalm 34:7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the divine reporters who constantly inform You about the things I’m careless, oblivious or ignorant about. Amen.
