28 November 2021 – Dream with God – Part 3

Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways.

God’s dreams, thoughts and ways are much higher, deeper and wider than our well delineated, processed thoughts and premeditated plans. Dreaming with God would require trading our thoughts with His thoughts and surrendering our ways to His ways. Even the brains that design rocket science cannot decipher the thoughts of God. O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable are His ways! (Romans 11:33).

Following the dream of God is like a train trip.  We don’t check the vehicle warranty, the driver’s license or if the train has fuel for the trip; we just buy the ticket and follow the crowd. Once we have a valid ticket we sink into our seats and wait for the destination. The ticket is the promise that we hold. Dreaming with God is a journey of faith.

“God will fulfill all of His promises, but He’s not obligated to fulfill our potential.” -Larry Randolph. God will only give us the promise(fully paid for ticket), He will not load us on to the train. Check the validity of the ticket for the travel on the clouds of God’s thoughts.

Three checks to dream with God:

  1. Ticket: Check the validity of your ticket. We cannot travel on our own wish list or our passion, it must be a promise from God. King David, God’s warrior king, had a burning passion in his heart and a noble idea to build a temple for the Lord. “Look! I am living in a palace made from cedar, while the ark of God sits in the middle of a tent” (2 Samuel 7:2). Not all good ideas are God ideas. David’s passion was not backed by God’s promise. David wanted to embark on a journey that he did not have a valid ticket for. Before you start dreaming, check the thoughts of God. Pray over your passion and God will increase your potential. Validate your passions with the promise of God.
  1. Transfer: Listen to the announcements. There will be directions to switch lanes or transfer trains during the journey. If we miss the message we will mess up the plan. A pastor of a small church in Ohio had a humongous dream to impact the world. His passion to equip others transformed an ordained pastor into a leadership guru. John C Maxwell after pastoring for 30 years, resigned as a clergyman and emerged into a motivational speaker and a mentor. God will finance the project that He initiates. God will execute the plans that He designs. Listen to the voice of God.
  1. Trip: The trip is not about the journey but the destination. Many abort the dream of God as they are impatient, distracted or indecisive. Terminating a dream without pursuing it is like jumping out of a moving train to catch a butterfly. Paul the apostle was anointed to preach the gospel to the gentiles. He buoyed the journey in spite of the opposition, hardship and persecution. Paul has left a lasting legacy, fully accomplishing God’s dream. Finish the trip and fulfill the dream.

Dream with God – God’s thoughts and ways are much higher than ours.

1 Timothy 4:7 I have finished the race.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, your thoughts and ways are always way bigger than mine. Teach my birdbrain to submit to your will, wisdom and ways. Amen.
