15 December 2021 – Bones – Part 6

Ezekiel 37:2b I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry.

Bones are one of the best sources of DNA from decomposed human remains. Forensic anthropologists can  estimate the age, gender, race and height of the dead person by analyzing the bones. It would take over 10 years for bones to completely disintegrate and dismemberResearchers say that bone DNA under ideal conditions would last for about 6.8 million years!

The Lord God gave Ezekiel a very profound vision of dry, disintegrated bones coming back to life. It is estimated that Ezekiel had this prophetic vision around the 12th year of the Babylonian exile (585BC). The nation of Israel had been wiped away from the world map after the Babylonian and Assyrian captivity. The remnants were scattered afar after Judah went into captivity in (597BC). This iconic vision of dry bones brought hope and comfort to the hopeless captives under the oppression of their heathen enemies. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’ (Ezekiel 37:11b). The vision revitalized new life into the bones of the incarcerated throng.

The vision symbolized the ‘power of prophecy’ that can reverse the calamity doomed over Israel. The bones clamped back into the sockets and the skeleton was covered with tendons, flesh and skin and became living beings. Allegorically “Hopelessness” dries and dismembers our spiritual skeletal muscular anatomy. When hope dies, we become lifeless zombies. Lack of oxygen (hope) to our spiritual structure causes dullness, depression and despair. Prophesying over the despondency will revive life into our spiritual bones.

Prophecy to the dry bones:

  1. Dry: To overcome spiritual dryness in the bones, prophesy over yourself. Most people suffer spiritual dryness not because of the devil but by their own negative confession and self proclaimed curses. Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! (Ezekiel 37:4). Speak the promises of God over the wayward family member, the cut-throat commercial culture or the political red-tapism.   As I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone (Ezekiel 37:7). Prophesy God’s word and witness the rattling of the dry bones.
  1. Dead: To defeat spiritual death, construct the spiritual structure with prophetic words. Rome was not built in a day. Building spiritual stature takes time and patience. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them (Ezekiel 37:8). Ezekiel constructed tendons and tissues by obedient confession. Don’t be frazzled by the deadness of your dream; build your destiny. Spiritual giants are not born, they are constructed with perseverance.
  1. Deceased: When a person is dead they stop breathing, the heart stops beating and pulsating. However, as Ezekiel started prophesied, breath of life was the last to enter into the newly constructed dead bodies. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army (Ezekiel 37:10). The promises of hope will pump oxygen into our hearts, revive spiritual heartbeat and normalize our pulse rate. Prophecy anxiety and worry out of your life.  Reverberate the promises to reinvigorate spiritual life.

Reverse spiritual dryness by positive, self professed prophetic proclamations.

Ezekiel 37:14a I will put my Spirit in you and you will live.

Prayer: Father God, teach me to reverse the spiritual dryness and hopelessness in my spiritual bones with your promises. Amen.
