08 February 2022-The Power of Consistency – Part 4

Mark 16:1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body.

“6 months of hard work and focus can put you 5 years ahead in life. Don’t underestimate the power of consistency and desire.”— Erik Bredemeyer.

Mary was a Jewish woman from the fishing town Magdala, on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee. She was one of the wealthy women who supported the ministry of Jesus. Jesus healed her from seven tormenting demons. Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out (Luke 8:2). After being set free from the treachery of the torturing demons, she followed the Lord who set her free. Mary Magdalene not only enjoyed the popularity and probity of Jesus, she also followed Him to the cross.  Even when the disciples of Jesus fled in fear, Mary followed Jesus and stood beneath the cross, crushed and crying. “Hard times will always reveal true friends”. Near the cross of Jesus stood His mother, His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. (John 19:25).

The consistent and persistent never give up. Mary did not stop giving and serving Jesus even after He died. It was Mary who led the women’s entourage to the tomb, with spices, to sprinkle on the body of Jesus. When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body (Mark 16:1). She did not spare her wealth even after the death of Jesus. The Jews did not practice embalming but the women went to anoint Jesus to honour Him. The consistent do not change stands, sides or support even during the toughest and darkest times.

The reward of consistency:

  1. Vision: To be a visionary we must be consistent. Not every day will be a glorious happy day, on mountain top, when we pursue a vision. There will be dark, droopy and dangerous valleys that we must cross. Mary’s consistency in her love and service made her the first evangelist who witnessed the risen Saviour Jesus Christ. Be consistent with your vision and mission.
  1. Visitation: The first woman to hold baby Jesus was the virgin Mary but the first woman to see the resurrected body of Jesus was a woman delivered from demons! The qualification for divine visitation, interactions and revelation is not our past but our persistence. The consistent will have divine visitations.
  1. Victory: Six months of consistency will give us a head start of 5 years. Follow your daily disciplines every day. Read your Bible, pray, meditate, write, persevere and apply the Word of God every day. “Success is a sum of small efforts, repeated day-in and day-out” – Robert CollierConsistency brings victory.

The reward from the persistent and consistent are both earthly and heavenly visions, visitations and victory.

John 20:18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!

Prayer: Dear Jesus, instill in me the determination and perseverance to be consistent in all that you have called me to do. Amen.
