22 March 2022 – The Power of Two – Part 4

1 Samuel 14:12b So Jonathan said to his armor-bearer, “Climb up after me; the Lord has given them into the hand of Israel.”

God gave Israel a great victory by the faith and fervor of two, Jonathan, (the son of King Saul) and his armor bearer. The army of Saul was assembled for war without weapons. So on the day of the battle not a soldier with Saul and Jonathan had a sword or spear in his hand; only Saul and his son Jonathan had them (1 Samuel 13:22). Jonathan along with his young armor bearer climbed the cliff to cross over the enemy’s outpost and fought the Philistines. When Jonathan moved in faith, rather than quivering in fear, the Lord shook the earth and threw the enemy into a panic. Then panic struck the whole army—those in the camp and field, and those in the outposts and raiding parties—and the ground shook. It was a panic sent by God (1 Samuel 14:15).  Faith of two men brought victory to the unequipped Israelite army. While King Saul and the army were trembling, the Lord sent a tremor to strike the enemy with terror, using two tenacious warriors. ‘Two is too many for the Lord’.

It is not our wisdom or weaponry that brings victory – obedience and faithfulness unfolds God’s favour over our situation. Integrity and veracity draws divine help. Jonathan moved into action at the unction(anointing) of the Holy Spirit. When Jonathan responded fearlessly, God moved powerfully. It took only two to bring victory over the multitude. God was with the two who were not frazzled by fear but responded to faith. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20). It takes only a quorum of two to unleash the army of Heaven. It takes only a minimum attendance of two praying saints to overthrow the demonic maledicts and spark a mighty revival.

The power of two:

1.     Feeble: When two of us touch and agree on earth, there is an atom bomb released against the demonic forces in the wicked places. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees (Hebrews 12:12). We don’t need a church full of prayer warriors to stop a war, we only need two sincere souls. Strengthen the feeble arms and knees and start praying today.

2.     Fragile: When God is on our side, two will overthrow thousands. Let the weak say I am strong (Joel 3:10). Our case might look weak, our CV might look unfavorable, our health might look unpromising but our God is faithful and powerful. Our confession turns our frailty into potency.

  1. Frustrate: When God is fighting our battle, He will confuse the counsels of the callous. They found the Philistines in total confusion, striking each other with their swords (1 Samuel 14:20). God overturned their own weapons to destroy themselves. He will turn the divination against us to bounce back at the destroyer. Faith boomerangs blackmagic and frustrates the plots of the enemy.

Two is too many for the Lord.

1 Samuel 14:23a So on that day the Lord saved Israel.

Prayer: Lord My Warrior, Two in agreement can overthrow the demonic horde. Thank you for the angelic help. Amen.
