25 March 2022 – The Power of Two – Part 7

John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing”.

The most powerful partnership on earth is our intimacy with Jesus. Our human relationships will be effective and encrypted only when we have an intimate relationship with Jesus. There can be successful marriages and sincere lifelong friendships but relationships reap eternal benefits only when we co-partner with Jesus. Jesus said, If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruitAll human relationships will become meaningful, sincere and influential when we are connected to the True Vine, Jesus.

Jesus metaphorically described Himself as the vine and His children as the branches. We cannot influence the world without spending quality time with Him. Our bond with Him makes us think, talk and teach like Him. Standing close to the vine does not nourish the branch – the branch must be connected to the vine. Similarly, sitting in the church or attending conventions doesn’t make us like Christ, only intimacy with the Lord will transform us like Him.

Our happiness is not the responsibility of our parents, spouse, friends or colleagues. It is wrong to expect our spouse to keep us happy or a friend to guard our emotions. When we depend on people they will fail as all humans operate under limitations. Joy is the river that nourishes our soul when we spend time in the “intimate garden of prayer”. If we miss our personal prayer appointment with the “Joy Giver” even silly issues can have a severe impact on us. The fulcrum of all earthly relationships is hinged on our intimacy with Jesus.

“Intimacy with the Risen Saviour will transform our human associations into Heavenly connections”.

The power of two:

1.     Intimacy: Intimacy with the Lord is, marinating in His presence and meditating in His Word day and night. Intimacy is allowing God’s word to direct our thoughts and our tongue. Intimacy is not restricted to the few minutes in the prayer closet, it is engaging the divine Saviour in every intricate matter in the secular and social world as well.

2.     Insight: We will have a better understanding of what is happening to us and around us. We will understand wars in the light of the Gospel, the times and seasons of our life. We will even learn to count our time on earth. Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom (Psalms 90:12). Constant connection with Christ will give us deep insights.

  1. Invade: The words “invade” and “occupy” are military terms which means to advance and overtake. Co-partnering with Christ transforms us into a powerful army. With your help I can advance against a troop (Psalm 18:29). Our intimacy with God will make us bold to invade into the diabolical territory and conquer disease, dread and depression.

Everybody-God=Zero. Nobody+God=Hero.

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

Prayer: Compassionate Father, May I be sensitive to your presence 24/7 and draw power, wisdom and strength from you.  Amen.
