18 April 2022 – Heaven is Real – Part 3

Philippians 3:20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our permanent residency is in Heaven. We are only sojourners on earth. “My home is Heaven, I’m just travelling through this world” – Billy Graham. Accepting Christ Jesus as our Lord and Saviour makes us eligible for citizenship to the ‘Country of Heaven’. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country (Hebrews 11:16a). Our status on earth is an “ambassador” or a “representative” of  the Heavenly Country.

Ambassador is the highest ranking diplomat sent by a state to a foreign land to represent their government and promote their policies. The ambassador presents and demonstrates the best that their home country has to offer. Likewise we are appointed civil servants to represent the true treasures of Heaven on earth.  A privilege of an ambassador is that they are exempted from being prosecuted by the state in open court for acts performed in connection with their embassy roles. This is why, when Jesus stood before the Pilate (The Roman Governor), an “open court” of the Romans, He refused to defend His case. Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” (John 18:36). Pilate understood the tribunal jurisdiction that King Jesus spoke to him. Our citizenship is in Heaven.

Rights and Rules of the ambassadors of Heaven:

1.     Criteria: The qualification of the highest ranking diplomat of Heaven is the ‘heart of a child’. “I assure you,” He said, “unless you are converted and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3). Our appointment as diplomats of Heaven would be annulled if there are hidden agendas, personal promotions or devious intentions while executing our duties as ambassadors of Heaven. Innocence of a child, quickness to forgive and a teachable spirit are criteria to become divine diplomats.

2.     Cost: Only a citizen can be an ambassador and the cost of Heavenly citizenship is the blood of Jesus. The cost was paid in full on the cross of Calvary but the condition to be selected as Heaven’s agent is ‘commitment’. If an ambassador is in danger, they are backed by the defense force of the Heavenly country. We are backed by angelic hosts when our life, property or families are under attack or assault by the demonic world. The price of the privilege is the Blood of Jesus.

  1. Caveat: The caveat of a diplomat of Heaven is the Bible. Every time an appointed minister of Heaven, a pastor or an evangelist violates their position or power, it is not just their family, church or ministry that suffers but the reputation of the ‘Country of Heaven’ that has appointed them as diplomats. (Romans 2:24). A diligent divine diplomat must execute the will of God on earth.

Fulfilling God’s will brings Heaven down to earth.

2 Corinthians 5:20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Prayer: Divine Daddy, thank you for paying the cost for my citizenship in Heaven. Until I come home, may I be a dedicated diplomat of my Heavenly Home. Amen.
