Acts 1:11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
The address of Heaven is “Up, North”. I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north—an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light (Ezekiel 1:4). When we talk about Heaven we automatically look up and gaze into the unknown horizon. Heaven is not a space where we will be floating on a bunch of clouds. Heaven has a physical address. The Angel measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long. The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst (Revelation 21:16, 18-20). Bible scholars estimate that 12,000 stadia is about 1,400 miles or 2,200 kilometers. The heavenly kingdom cannot be measured with human scales. The immeasurable length of the walls would be glimmering with red bricked Jasper stones. There are twelve layers of solid foundation of twelve different precious stones. The city and streets are of pure gold. The overwhelming ecstatic excitement of discovering every splendid street, stone and signpost cannot be articulated in words.
Three gifts awaiting in Heaven:
1. Mansions: We will all have a mansion of our own! Every time we serve selflessly, give generously and pray faithfully, our divine superannuation account gets credited and mansions upgraded.. When we get to Heaven and are disappointed with the size of our mansion, it is not God’s fault but our own. Mansions are under construction in Heaven.
2. Makeover: We will have a complete makeover, face lift, nose shift and body shaped to perfection! He will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body (Philippians 3:21b). Makeup to hide our spots, cosmetics to cover up our grey hairs, and tummy tucking leggings for our bellies will become redundant in Heaven. We will glow with the Glory of God. Get ready for a complete makeover
- Meals: For those of us who love food and festivals, Heaven is a palace of fiesta and celebration. On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine (Isaiah 25:6). We can eat all the fudge cakes that we want and not gain a pound. Our glorious bodies are free from aging, gaining weight or deteriorating. There are banquets in Heaven.
Heaven will be beyond all human imaginations. It is our bright, colourful, glorious, humongous and splendid home that Jesus, our Chief Architect, is constructing for us.
Revelation 21:21b The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for the delightful divine home that is going to be full of surprises. Make me more Heavenly conscious than earthly bonded. Amen.
