21 June 2022 – GPS – Part 3

Colossians 3:15a And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.

Global Positioning System (GPS) uses a technique called “trilateration” to give us the desired result. “Trilateration” is a geometrical measuring methodology of lengths to survey overlapping triangles on the earth’s surface, electronically. To determine the route of the location, the GPS device must be able to read the signal from at least four satellites. This small device, with the aid of trilateration, calculates the distance, time and route in just seconds by the signals that are transmitted from the satellites.

God’s Positioning System inbuilt in our soul uses a technique called “peace”. When our mind deliberates a plan, peace accentuates and acknowledges it, if the decision is in line with God’s blueprint. If the tranquility disappears and tumult grips our heart, we have taken the wrong route and are heading towards danger. You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you (Isaiah 26:3). Steadfast peace is the rudder and the trilateration that leads us to our destination.

Jesus said, Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid (John 14:27). If you lose your peace over any decision or deliberation, stop, God’s Positioning System is trying to reroute you. The cacophony of the heart and confusion of the mind is God’s divine radio signal of redirection.

‘Peace’ is the divine signal from God’s Positioning System:

1.     Rudder: We see the rudder of Paul’s missionary journey maneuvered by his inner peace. Paul and his friends went through Phrygia and Galatia, but the Holy Spirit would not let them preach in Asia (Acts 16:6). When emotions drag us to confront someone or when feelings compel us to make a quick decision, stop and check where the rudder is pointing to. If you have no peace about a job offer, a business proposal or a marriage prospect, do not proceed. Peace is the rudder.

2.     Radio-Signal: When the radio wave of messages from God’s Word does not substantiate your next move, wait. When God says wait, “wait”. When God delays your plan, slow down and listen to the radio-signal. What might sound like a ‘lifetime opportunity’ might morph itself into a ‘dreadful decision’ after waiting, stopping and praying. Fasting tunes our ears to the soft whispers from heaven. Tune-in to the divine radio-signal.

  1. Radar: Tall buildings blocking the view of the sky or storms obstructing the view of the satellite will cause the GPS equipment to lose connection. On the contrary, we can never wander away from God’s Positioning System, but we can through willful sin and repeated disobedience roam outside the radar of God’s protection. King Saul’s stubborn sins allured him to meander away from God’s radar. Saul inquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him (1 Samuel 28:6), as he was outside the radar of God’s Positioning System. Stay within the divine radar.

‘Peace’ is the divine ‘trilateration’ of God’s Positioning System.

Philippines 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Prayer: Awesome Holy Spirit, may I always be sensitive to your voice and be led by peace. Amen.
