Colossians 1:17 And He Himself existed and is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. [His is the controlling, cohesive force of the universe] (AMP).
Astronomers have discovered that planets closest to the sun, (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn) align or parade in one line once in 38.6 years. This means planets will appear in the same part of the sky. The last time five visible planets were aligned was in 2020. Scientists say that planetary collusion is highly unlikely as our solar system is reasonably stable. It is amazing to understand that each planet has a different orbital period. For example, Neptune’s orbital period is 164.8 years whereas Pluto’s is 248.8-year around the sun. Each planet speeds up or slows down as the other approaches, which alters their paths and prevents them coming closer than around 2600 million km to each other. Though this is explained by scientists as “gravitational resonance/character”, the gazillion galaxies are held together by the Mighty Hand of God.
Earth is unbelievably tiny as compared to the size of the cosmos we are in. Astronomers estimate that approximately 1.3 million earths would fit inside the sun. The Lord God is not only King over all the earth, but He also rules the universe. Jesus exhibited His authority over nature and the natural disaster while He was on earth. He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm (Luke 8:24). When the climatic conditions were misaligned with the plan of God, Jesus rebuked the raging sea and the rapacious wind, and they obeyed.
Mankind is the most esteemed conception of all of God’s creation, but deception has stolen our intimacy with God. All other creations obey the voice of God except the humans who have been granted the gift of ‘freewill’. The misuse of freewill misaligns humans with the will of God.
Three lessons from the cosmos:
- Co-operates: Creation co-operates with the plan of God and trembles at the voice of God. No planet meanders away from its orbit. No star falls or faints before its time. I often think of the heavens your hands have made, and of the moon and stars you put in place (Psalm 8:3). Like the cosmos, co-partnering with the plan of God will keep us on course and spiritually aligned. Stop suggesting and start cooperating with God’s plan.
- Command: Creation obeys the command of the Lord. At the blast of your breath, the waters piled up! (Exodus 15:8). The Lord exhaled and the Red Sea split into two. Obedience to God’s command will open closed doors. Implicit obedience aligns us with God’s will.
- Control: Creation submits to the control of the Creator. Planets don’t collide as they are sequentially aligned in their orbit. Human’s combat, kill and slaughter each other as we want to control rather than be led by the Creator. Stop controlling and start following God’s voice.
Surrender, obedience, and submission will keep us spiritually aligned to the Creator.
Isaiah 40:22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.
Prayer: Father God, I marvel at your creation and your hand that is holding the universe together in alignment. Help me to be obedient and subservient to your Word to be spiritually aligned with your plan. Amen.
