04 August 2022 – How Great is Our God – Part 5

Psalm 19:1-4 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

Astronauts Bill Anders, Jim Lovell, and Frank Borman recited Genesis 1:1-10  from the Bible  (KJV) as they orbited the Moon. Creation speaks a language that every tribe and tongue can understand. No human in his right senses can deny that there is an intelligent designer who created and controls the cosmos. During the day, the trees, birds, and the lofty mountains display the grandeur of God and at night the moonlight night sky takes us far into space to reveal the knowledge of the Holy One.

Dr. James Tour, professor of Chemistry at Rice University, Houston Texas who has done extensive research on molecular science states, “I build molecules for a living”. I can’t begin to tell you how difficult that job is”. He says that as he probes deeper and deeper into molecular science he sees the fingerprints of an ‘Intelligent Designer’. As he studied evolutionary science, it propelled him towards atheism however molecular science has cemented his confidence in God. “I stand in awe of God for what He has done in creation” he says. “Only a rookie who knows nothing about science would say science takes away faith. If you really study science, it will bring you close to God.”

Just a walk in the park is more than enough to proclaim, “How Great is our God”!

Three thoughts to ponder:

  1. Intricacy: Stop for a minute and think about what goes on inside you. A hundred billion chemicals and physical interactions work and function together in a human. Our internal organs never take a break while we are sleeping. The length of the blood vessels that carry blood from the top of our head to the tip of our toe measures to about 60,000 miles! The intelligence of the intricate design of human anatomy can preach better sermons than any preacher on a pulpit.
  1. Complexity: Despite the extensive research and development in brain science, Dr. Christof Koch, Ph.D., Chief Scientist and President of the Allen Institute for Brain Science says, “We don’t even understand the brain of a worm.” A roundworm has 302 neurons, and 7,000 connections and researchers are unable to map these connections; leave alone 86 billion neurons and 100 trillion connections in a human brain. We are fearfully and wonderfully made by the master intelligent designer.
  1. Intelligence: Who can stand before the astuteness of God? Whom did the LORD consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding? (Isaiah 40:14). If you really study science, it will bring you close to the Intelligent Designer.

The intricacies, complexities, and intelligent design of creation illustrates the Greatness of our God.

Psalm 139:14a I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Prayer: Incredible master designer, creation speaks to us day and night about your greatness and your grandeur to illuminate our darkened minds.Amen.
