20 August 2022 – Hope – Part 7

Hebrews 10:23 “Let’s hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, because the one who made the promises is reliable.”

Hope must be confessed for faith to manifest.

The hope in our heart must be confessed and declared through our lips for it to germinate, grow and flourish. Silent hope will weaken overtime. However, only hope that is rooted in God’s Word, His unconditional love and extravagant grace will sprout and mature. The basic nutrition for hope is God’s Word. Confession transfers the promises of God from the head to the heart as ‘living hope’. “Whatever was written in the past was written for our instruction so that we could have hope through endurance and through the encouragement of the scriptures.” (Romans 15:4).

Hope is not declaring and confessing all that we want and desire. Hope must be rooted in God’s Word. Our source of hope is the faithfulness of God. Declaration of the goodness, greatness and the graciousness of Christ Jesus will manifest as miracles in our lives. Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).

The tool to energize hope is our tongue. The enemy also uses the same tool to destroy our hope. In 2 Kings 18, the commander of Assyria, yelled derision and defamation in Hebrew against King Hezekiah, (the king of Judah) and the God of Israel. “Do not listen to Hezekiah, for he is misleading you when he says, ‘The Lord will deliver us.’ (2 Kings 18:32b). The Assyrian commander twisted the promise of God in Deuteronomy to persuade the people to surrender; “Choose life and not death!” (vs32b). When the enemy of our soul slanders, smirks and strikes with scorn, scorch him by declaring the promises of God; smote the scoffing demons that spit disdain, with God’s Word.

Strengthen your hope by verbalizing, visualizing and vitalizing:

1.     Verbalize: When the enemy sows disbelief to damage our hope, smolder him by declaring the promises of God. If we allow threads of analytical questions to flood our mind, soon hope will be sucked away. Verbalize your hope and vocalize your faith.

2.     Visualize: Hope is the telescope that zooms into the future. Hope visualizes beyond reality into the credibility of God’s authority. Visualizing the divine hope will make us enjoy joy and peace in the present, while we are waiting for the promises to be fulfilled in the future.  Visualize hope.

3.     Vitalize: We are charged like a battery when we are in God’s presence. Vitalize and revitalize your hope by soaking in His presence. Despair will evaporate under the fiery presence of the Holy Ghost.  A fully charged heart will be bubbling and overflowing with living hope. Vitalize hope.

The source of divine hope is hidden in Christ Jesus; the anchor of hope is covered by the blood of Jesus and the strength of hope is concealed in His Word.

Psalms 62:5 “Oh, I must find rest in God only, because my hope comes from Him! Only God is my rock and my salvation — my stronghold! — I will not be shaken.”

Prayer: Almighty God, help my roots of divine hope to be gripped tightly onto your Word. I will sing through the storms and declare that I will receive the best of the best from the hands of my Saviour and my God.
