27 August 2022 – Praise-Breaks – Part 7

Psalm 118:1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Researchers have confirmed that ‘a word of praise’, ‘compliment’ or ‘acknowledgement’ activates one of the reward areas of the brain and improves learning that occurs during sleep called ‘skill consolidation’.   Appreciation activates attentiveness and compliments boosts concentration. Likewise, making ‘praise and worship’ which is an integral part of our prayer life, has a profound impact on daily lives. Praise will positively affect the human mind, petrify the demonic forces and personalize our relationship with the Lord.

A parent would be more motivated to grant the request of a child who is appreciative than a grumpy child. Complaining is an expression of doubt and it displeases God. Praise overflows from a heart that is overwhelmed with love and gratitude. We can never praise God if we are not engulfed with genuine love. Words of praise without love, is hypocrisy. We can fool people with ostentatious and fancy words but not God. Hence the effect of praise is always rooted in the rudimentary bed of love.  Hell is terrorized by true and genuine praise and worship. The Lord God Almighty enjoys an authentic praise and worship. But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel (Psalm 22:3). The Lord dwells and inhabits our praises. We will enjoy uninterrupted fellowship with the Almighty God when praise never leaves our lips.

“When we lift our hands in praise and worship, we break spiritual jars of perfume over Jesus. The fragrance of our praise fills the whole earth and touches the heart of God.”― Dennis Ignatius

Effects of praise:

1.     Ascribes:  Praises are acclamations of the attributes of God. “God is good and His loving kindness endures forever”, “God is a mighty warrior who fights for His children”, “He is God over all the flesh, and there is nothing too hard for our God”. Praise reiterates what we believe. It is a verbal confession of the meditation of our mind. Praise accentuates and ascribes the attributes of our God. Our praises please the heart of God.

2.     Alleviates: Praise reiterates and reconfirms the power, might and authority of God. As we praise, our hearts become lighter and minds become clearer. Confusion dissipates and fear vanishes. Praise strengthens our faith and eases qualms. Praise alleviates panic and elevates us to a place of rest.

3.     Accelerates: Praise accentuates the power of God and accelerates miracles. The Israelites sang ‘songs of ascent’ (Psalm 120 – 134) while ascending Mount Zion or the steps of the temple in Jerusalem. Metaphorically and literally singing songs of ascent/praise accelerates us up the prayer mountain into the presence of God. As our praise ascends into the presence of God, the angelic helpers descend with answered prayers, healing and long awaited miracles.

Our praise gladdens the heart of God, strengthens our hearts and terrorizes the demons. Praise breaks barriers and brings down the miraculous power of God. Praise makes us stronger, bolder and braver. Take frequent praise-breaks to experience breakthroughs.

Psalm 118:7 The Lord is with me; He is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies.

Prayer: Infallible Holy Father, there is no one like You. You are my helper, my shield and my protection. I will not be put to shame. Amen.
