05 September 2022 – Who is God? – Part 2

Genesis 22:14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-Jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of Jehovah it shall be provided.

God is the ultimate source of all good things. He might use human hands but the resource flows from Him. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows (James 1:17). Our jobs, income earning potential, skills and talents are only means; God is our source. The riches and the treasury of our source have no limit.  Our needs are insignificant in the eyes of the God of the universe. The estimate to launch a single satellite into space ranges from a low of $50 million to a high of $400 million! This is the approximate cost to make a trip into God’s backyard to take a closer look at the constellations. However, the Creator of the cosmos cruises on the wings of the wind. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind (Psalm 104:3b). The resources of God are not only unlimited but it can reach us anywhere, anytime and anyhow.

God supplied the food of angels to the half a million wanderers in the desert for about 40 years. God’s resources can reach us even in the driest desert of lack. God sent ravens to feed Prophet Elijah with bread and meat twice a day, to the lonely river side. God’s provision will reach us even when all our means dry up.

God is our source:

1.     Provision: God sent Abraham up Mount Moriah to test his faith and give up his most precious gift; his son Isaac. Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” (Genesis 22:2). Abraham obeyed without questioning God or fighting back as he knew God was the source of all his blessings including his son Isaac born at a good old age. Abraham gave Isaac a stunning response when Isaac asked Abraham about the lamb for the sacrifice. Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son” (Genesis 22:8). And He did! God provided a ram in the place of Isaac. God is our provider.

2.     Promise: God’s children come under God’s social security system. Young lions lack food and go hungry, but those who seek the LORD will not lack any good thing (Psalms 34:10). While the wealthy and affluent are counting their ratios, we will be enjoying divine provision. God is our promise keeper.

3.     Providence: We don’t live by the probabilities and predictions of the economists, statisticians or financial experts.  We live under the providence of our God. Your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things (Matthew 6:32). God is our divine providence.

God is our source. Our means could dry up but our source never does.

Philippians 4:19 “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Prayer: Jehovah-Jireh, my eyes will not be on my means, (my job, bank balance or business). You are my only source, my provider and my supplier. Amen
