07 September 2022 – Who is God? – Part 4

Romans 9:17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

God is Omnipotent, yet, He chooses the weak, the ignorant and the cowardice to exhibit His power. The pride of the Pharaoh was humbled by the ten plagues. The most powerful kingdom and ruler on the face of the earth at that primeval time gave up his fight as he could not withstand the power of the Almighty God. After the third plague that swamped Egypt with gnats, the sorcerers of Egypt tried their magic tricks to counter attack, but when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not (Exodus 818a). No human or demon can resist God. Satan is not a fool to oppose God. He knows that he will fry in the presence of the Almighty, but he attacks mortals who lack the wisdom and knowledge about the power of God. The way to counter attack and resist demonic incursion is to use the name of the Lord as our weapon. Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror (James 2:19). Moses stood with a menial shepherd’s staff before the mighty Egyptian chariots and an indomitable cavalry, yet, Pharaoh could not stop him.

When God is on our side, we become unstoppable, irrefutable and irresistible. What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31). No human influence or affluence can stand against God’s plan or His people.  The omnipotent God will oppose the proud but He will fight for the humble, meek and simple. He shames the proud, makes the fool wise and the weak strong to exhibit His power. There is nothing too hard for the Lord.

God is Omnipotent:

1.     Amateur: God does not need our experience or efficiency, He only desires our availability. The Almighty turned Paul who was a militant into a missionary soon after his conversion. At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God (Acts 9:20). It is only worldly jobs that require work-experience but God can use the amateur to display His power.

2.     Immature: With maturity comes wisdom but God can use even an immature stutterer. Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?” (Exodus 4:1). The immature questions of Moses did not put-off God. Our immaturity is not repugnant to the Lord.

3.     Premature: God does not need our fluency, he only needs our faithfulness.  “Ah, Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.” (Jeremiah 1:7). Age is no bar to the Lord. He can use the premature baby Christian to demonstrate His power.

God is omnipotent.

Exodus 8:19 the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.”

Prayer: All-Powerful God, there is nothing too hard for you. May I never be anxious about anything as no blessing that you have for me can be stopped even by the most powerful power on earth or heaven. Amen
