02 October 2022 – ‘Made-In’ – Part 1

1 Corinthians 6:19b-20 You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

The value of a product heavily depends on the brand and the place it was manufactured. The American Marketing Association defines a brand as “A name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one seller’s goods or service as distinct from those of other sellers”. We check the label to understand the marque and the manufacturer to gauge if it is priced accurately. Hence the markmake and the manufacturer will determine the worth and value of any product.

Jesus was a tradesman and a carpenter. Bible scholars say that He was an artisan not just a carpenter hence; His trade was not just restricted to furniture and fixtures of wood. Back in those days artisans were also stone cutters and builders. There would have been recliners, door posts and dinner tables marked “Made in Nazareth by Jesus”. The brand of Jesus was very well known as the people discussed, “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? (Matthew 13:55). Everything that Jesus did on the earth was to exhibit His divine nature, purpose and compassion for humanity. From manufacturing branded furniture Jesus moved to rebranding, remaking and renovating human hearts and minds.

We are not man-made, sweet accidents or scientifically coincidental beings.  We were handcrafted by our divine carpenter Jesus. For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13). He had a unique design in mind when He weaved us together in our mother’s womb. We are not from an unknown, insignificant and infamous clan, creed or country; we are the King’s brand, homespun handicrafts of the King of all the earth. We are the sons and daughters of the King of Kings. If we know our brand we will never underestimate ourselves in timidity or overestimate ourselves in arrogance or bigotry.

We were made-in heaven by the divine craftsman Jesus:

1.     Marked: We have the mark of royalty on us. In him you also,…were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13). We will never question our worth if we know that we have the mark of the Sovereign’s royal stamp on us.

2.     Make: We are not defined by our country of origin, colour or creed, we are made in the likeness and image of the God of Heaven. It is not our qualification, experience or influence that determines our value on this earth, it is the “made in” label which reads, “The Carpenter’s son/daughter”.

3.     Manufacturer: We can buy a fake iPhone 14 Pro Max for less than half the original price. The value is not just for the look and the features but the manufacturer ‘Apple’. Likewise, our worth is not based on our achievement and accolades but the ‘made-in’ invisible label that reads ‘made in heaven’.

We were exclusively designed and meticulously fashioned by our Divine Carpenter Jesus. You are special, unique and exclusive.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image.

Prayer: Jesus my Divine Carpenter, help me to understand I am Your high-end precious creation, fashioned by the Divine Designer and that your fingerprints are all over my life. Amen
