Genesis 11:6 The Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
Words heard or spoken form images in our brain. Neuroscientist Maximilian Riesenhuber of Georgetown University Medical Center published a study in the Journal of Neuroscience that words form pictures in our brain. The words we hear or read are the fabric of imagination. Imagination is not daydreaming. Daydreaming is living in a fantasy world but imagination is seeing a God-given dream coming to fruition through the eyes of faith.
In Genesis chapter 11, the Lord God confirmed that the people will be able to build the tower of Babel that they had drafted in their mind. The people did not have the sophisticated technology that the modern day architects have. They pictured the project and the draft of the workmanship was in their mind. This building project was against the will of God for the world, hence he confused their language. It is very important to align our imaginations with God’s plan. The mind of God is the written Word of God. Confession of the promises from the Word of God paints a prolific picture and aids godly imagination.
Imagination is the God-given gift to see into the future through the lens of God. So, set your mind on God’s promises, speak the Word and see it come to completion.
Words are the fabric that weaves imaginations and images in our mind:
1. Set: To use the gift of imagination effectively we must set our mind to meditate on what God has spoken to us. If we dwell on our own perturbations or on the perspective of people, media or intellect, the image of our mind will be weak and wimpy. The minds of young children are like a clean slate but as they grow, bad experiences, disparaging words or humiliating comments from teachers, parents or caregivers could sketch defeated and downtrodden images. If there are any ugly images about yourself and our future, (control+alt +del) reset your mind today. Set your mind to form images based on God’s promise.
2. Speak: We must see the promise of God through our eyes of imagination before it can manifest. We must see our wayward family member set free, we must see our healing, and we must see ourselves fruitful and valuable, for the promises of God to fulfill. Speaking the promises of God over an impossible situation or insurmountable problem will build images of victory in our mind. As the image of success, healing and triumph grows bigger and bigger our faith becomes stronger, studier and superior.
3. See: The Holy Spirit gives us the ability to destroy the ill-spoken words that regurgitates and build the God-given image through the gift of imagination. The process to get to the promise is always difficult but when our minds are busy building God’s image, our spiritual eyes can see the promise come to fruition.
Words are the fiber of imaginations.
Proverbs 23:7 For as he a thinks in his heart, so is he.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, may I speak words that will build godly images of faith. May my eyes of faith imagine your promises coming to culmination. Amen
