30 November 2022 – Jesus – Part 4

Revelation 19:16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords.

Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Theocracy was God’s design of rulership but monarchy was man’s device of generalship.  Theocracy is a system of governance where God is the King. The Jewish supremacy was a prototype of theocracy. Over a period of time, the priest (political leaders) became agents and the voice of the Lord God. But Israel rejected God as their King and wanted a human king like the pagan nations. And the Lord told him/(Prophet Samuel): “…it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king (1 Samuel 8:7). From theocracy Israel moved to monarchy where one man and his family became the dominant supremacy over the people. Israel invited trouble upon themselves and set up two governing systems of political and religious rulers to dominate them.

Samuel advised the people but they would not listen. He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves (Vs 17). We will be slaves to what and who rules us. We become slaves to humans or habits that overtake and control us. When sin rules our life we become slaves to sin. Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin (John 8:34). King Jesus calls us His sons but satan mistreats us as slaves when we are chained to sin. When we give Jesus the final say in every area of our life, we walk in divine freedom. The rules in the Kingdom of Jesus are chords of love which is contrary to the kingdom of darkness that enslaves and incarcerates us.

Surrendering to King of Kings:

1.     Domain: Our sphere of influence must be surrendered to the King of Kings. Jesus must be the centre of our family, friendships and finances. These are three domains where we have sole control. Crowning Jesus as the King over our domain of influence and involving King Jesus in our decisions makes Him the King of Kings over our lives.

2.     Dominance: Submitting to the Kingship of Christ Jesus means Jesus reigns over all our aspirations and ambitions. It means surrendering to King Jesus in love. “If you love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments (John 14:15). Dominance is the Kingdom of God is unconditional love but kingdom of darkness promotes legalism.

3.     Diplomat: Crowning Jesus as King over our lives makes us His ambassadors and diplomats. We represent Him to the world hence we become responsible to exhibit His character. The most important responsibility of a diplomat is to promote the culture, interest and policy of his country. Likewise, it is our duty to promote Kingdom culture to the world.

Undeniably Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Surrendering to the supremacy of Christ Jesus will keep us covered under his provision, protection and providence.

Revelation 17:14 He is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

Prayer: King Jesus, I invite you to rule every area of my life; I surrender your Word to influence and make me your diplomat in this world.  Amen
