01 December 2022 – Jesus – Part 5

Psalm 34:15-16 the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth.

God watches over His people. His eyes can search and scan through every detail of our life. He even has a count of every hair on our head. But not a hair of your head will perish (Luke 21:18). Dermatologists have concluded that it is normal to lose on an average about 100 to 150 strands of hair per day. Studies say that about 80 to 90% of our hair is growing at any given point of time and 10 to 15% is resting which means it is neither growing nor shedding. Every two to three months the resting hair will shed. Even though it is normal to lose a certain amount of hair every day, not one falls from our scalp without the permission of our Heavenly Father. Being conscientious that we have the eyes of the Lord God watching over us 24/7 gives us confidence, courage and sense of awe. God is watching our bawling when no one else sees us sobbing. The Lord God watches over everything that even we cannot see or understand. His eyes are watching over everything that concerns us and His ears are listening to every discussion that goes on about us. So nothing can escape the radar of our God.

The Lord God is watching over our strides, steps and stops. “He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber (Psalm 121:4). So, we can rest on the lap of the Sovereign Father and fall asleep without stressing about the future.  God is the defender of the helpless and the weak (Psalm 68:5). He is watching the abuse, mistreatment and the arrogance of the cruel and brutal. Our God watches over our helplessness and vulnerability.

Our Lord God watches over us day and night:

1.     See: Jesus looks at us with compassion. When He saw the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were weary and worn out, like sheep without a shepherd (Matthew 9:36). The world would judge and slander about our desperation but God looks at our exasperation with compassion. God can see what man cannot see.

2.     Scan: God’s eyes are scanning through every detail of our life. The difference between seeing and scanning is that scanning would scrutinize every feature in detail. Medical screening and scanning helps to detect and diagnose what is not visible above the skin. God’s eyes can see beyond what we can see.

3.     Search: God’s eyes search through the earth to spot those who sincerely seek Him. The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him (2 Chronicles 16:9). God’s eyes can never miss a sincere soul.

Living conscientious that we have the divine eyes of God over every detail of our life keeps us calm and confident and courageous.

Psalm 33:18a Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him

Prayer: Compassionate Saviour, I have nothing to fear or be anxious about as nothing can miss your scanning Sovereign eyes.  Amen
