03 December 2022 – Jesus – Part 7

Acts 9:5 “Who are You, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” He replied.

‘Jesus Christ the Superstar’ was a musical gospel production by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It was a sung-through rock opera or a musical creation of a collection of rock music songs about the plot against Jesus Christ. This show on Broadway has a record of the longest run-rate of a West-End musical for eight years from 1972 to 1980. This band propagated Jesus Christ as the Superstar.

To many people Jesus is a good man. To others He is a prophet, miracle-worker or healer. Yet to others He is an ATM machine or a genie who must supply their wants. Jesus asked a profound question to His disciples who passionately follow Him. He asked, “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:15-16). Christ is not the surname of Jesus. Christ in Greek means the anointed one and Messiah in Hebrew also means the anointed one. Jesus is not just the supersonic superman and superstar; He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. His name brings salvation, healing and deliverance.  “And there is no salvation in any other man, for there is no other name under Heaven given to the children of men by which it is necessary to receive life” (Acts 4:12).  He was a 100% God yet 100% human and was tempted just like us, yet He did not sin. Who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth (1 Peter 2:22). Even Pilate the Roman governor testified that he found no sin in Jesus. Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name (Philippians 2:9). Jesus is the only man who has never sinned on the face of the earth.

Who is Jesus to you?

1.     Superstar: Jesus is not just a superstar who can walk on water and turn water into wine. Many promulgated Him as the miracle-worker. The supernatural is His natural self. It is not supernatural for Jesus to multiply bread or calm the storm. His power accompanies His presence. Where Jesus is, there will be miracles and multiplication.

2.     Superman: Jesus is not just a superman who can raise the dead and heal the blind. Many seek Him only for healing. The stole and the shawl of Jesus seeped with healing anointing. She came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak…Immediately her bleeding stopped (Mark 5: 27&29). So, hanging out with Jesus will automatically bring healing.

3.     Supremacy: Jesus is Omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. There is no other authority that is above Jesus. There is no other name above the name of Jesus under heaven. Acknowledging the supremacy of Jesus over every throne and dominion gives us the authority to overcome any force of man or the fierce attack of the demonic realm.

Jesus reigns supreme over all.

Philippians 2:10-11 At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Prayer: Jesus Sweet Jesus, with you I am a victor. Nothing can defeat or subdue me as long as you are the Lord and King over my life.  Amen
