Isaiah 61:10 I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness.
Salvation is a garment. “Salvation is the saving grace of God by Christ’s death and resurrection that delivers us from sin and its consequences, which include death and separation from God”. Adam and Eve lost their garment of glory when they sinned against the Lord. Sin separated them from God and stripped away their divine royal attire. They tried to cover their nakedness with fig leaves but the fig leaves cloaks were of very poor quality and texture. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves (Genesis 3:7). This was the first failure that they faced. The outfits were a disaster! They soon dried and withered exposing them again! Everything that Adam did with His glory garments was successful. He named all the animals, fruits and trees. He was the rancher who reaped fruit without tilling the soil. But after they fell into sin, their fashion designed fig leaves apparel was a debacle. The need for clothing our soul arose as we lost our garment of glory.
The Lord God made sheepskin jackets for Adam and Eve. The divine designer was the first successful pioneer in the fashion industry. The LORD God made garments from skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them (Genesis 3:21). Ever since the first man left the Garden of Eden he had to invest in clothing. Even the most expensive brands such as Nike, Louis Vuitton and Gucci will age and become old over a period of time. Jesus restored the glory garment that we lost with the garment of salvation. We cannot receive the clean garment of salvation unless we receive forgiveness through the blood.
Be dressed in the garment of salvation:
1. Gucci: Gucci apparel and accessories will not take us to heaven. We read about a rich man who was clothed in purple linen all his life but never got to heaven (Luke 16:19-31). Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy (Revelation 3:4). Let’s get dressed in glory, not just Gucci.
2. Garment: Being clothed with the garment of salvation is to live with the assurance of forgiveness and the confidence that all curses have been broken. Those who wash their clothes clean are happy (who are washed by the blood of the Lamb) (Revelation 22:14a). Joy, peace and calmness in the soul is the guarantee that we are clothed in the garment of salvation.
3. Glory: The evidence of the virtual garment of salvation will manifest in the power of God that flows through us. I advise you to buy from Me … white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed (Revelation 3:18). Silliness, shoddiness or slyness will not be found in the lives of those who are clothed in glory.
Let the glory and majesty of God shine through us.
Mark 9:3 His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them.
Prayer: Jesus my Lord, thank you for the garment of salvation that gives me the assurance of forgiveness and acceptance. Amen
