07 April 2023 – Guilt – Part 6

Ezekiel 18:20 The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

There is an exception clause to the caveat of generational curses. As we inherit the wealth and goodwill of our forefathers, we also inherit the curses. Both assets and liabilities are transferred from one generation to another. However, our Gracious Lord has clearly given us an escape clause – “But suppose this son has a son who sees all the sins his father commits, and though he sees them, he does not do such things… He will not die for his father’s sin; he will surely live” (Ezekiel 18:14&17b). The stone of guilt and curse can be rolled away by our right and righteous decisions and choices. There is a cleansing process also stipulated in the caveat, however the right turn towards the right direction can break away the bondages and strongholds of generational curses.

The wicked and perverse generation that nailed the Carpenter Jesus to the cross proclaimed a curse that covered their generations to come. All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!” (Matthew 27:25). Pilate washed his hands in front of the crowd, “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!” (Matthew 27:24b). And the crowd retorted, ‘we take full responsibility!’ Willful stubborn disobedience, arrogance, pride and idolatry (Exodus 20:3) have plagued families with generational curses.

Families are infested with unforgiveness, lying, bitterness, fear, worry, judgment, resentment, pride, rejection, envy, jealousy, anger, abuse, covetousness, doubt, unbelief, rebellion, drunkenness, manipulation, greed, lust, idolatry, fornication, adultery, hatred, molestation, incest and revenge. The blood of Jesus will break the generational curses and the Word of God will lead us from bondage to blessedness.

Blood breaks the bondages:

1.     Attack: Generational curses attack us when we are vulnerable.  Retaliate with the blood of Jesus. Jesus shed His blood to save all humanity. The blood of Jesus is the powerful detergent that can set us free from self-proclaimed or generational curses.

2.     Apply: Many think that all generational curses are broken as soon as they accept Christ. When we come into the family of God we get access to all the spiritual blessings but we must inherit the promises. The blood is in the basin, take it and apply it on yourselves and your generation. Apply the blood over adamant habits and iniquities and break the bondages.

3.     Antidote: The blood is the only antibiotic that can heal the broken heart. Apply it over bad, sad and damaging memories of abuse, anger and animosity and be healed. Apply the blood over wrong thinking patterns and sinful habits inherited from the family bloodline and suffocate the enemy out of your life.

The blood is the antidote to set us free from generational curses.

Psalm 79:8 “O do not remember against us the sins and guilt of our forefathers.

Prayer: Dearest Lord Jesus, thank you for shedding your precious blood to break generational curses, habits and sickness. I apply the precious blood over my family, finance and future generations.  Amen.
