17 April 2023 – Because – Part 2

Mark 6:5 And because of their unbelief, he couldn’t do any miracles among them except to place his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their unbelief.

The miraculous power of Jesus stopped flowing because of their unbelief. Agnosticism can be defined as “human reason that is incapable of providing sufficient rational grounds to justify either the belief that God exists or the belief that God does not exist.” Jesus preached power-packed sermons in His hometown but many who heard Him were amazed. “Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing? Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at Him (Mark 6:2b-3). We can never understand the goodnews of the gospel with human wisdom. Human analysis and rationalization of God’s power will lead to unbelief. They asked six questions of unbelief and drowned themselves in skepticism. Six in the Bible is the number of man. It is foolish to try to understand the incredible power and wisdom of God with human understanding and intelligence. And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words (1 Corinthians 2:13).

Unbelief has morphed a majority of the population into robots with ‘artificial intelligence’. AI (Artificial Intelligence) is the design and development of computer systems capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. The robots are designed to perceive, interact and make decisions as humans do. Unbelief will program human minds into pre-programmed robots to follow the norms of the world. Unbelief will make them move away from the truth in the Word of God and follow the system of the world.

Worldly waywardness vs spiritual system:

1.     Skepticism: Doubt and unbelief will turn people into argumentative skeptics. Critical comments originate from people who are unable to accept the power or the wisdom of God. “Where did this man get these things?”. Secondly, skepticism stirs up jealousy. “What is this wisdom that has been given Him? Jesus was shocked at their unbelief as they witnessed remarkable miracles yet muttered What are these remarkable miracles He is performing? Unbelief makes people lean on their human intelligence.

2.     Synchronize: Arrogant unbelief will try to attach carnal values to spiritual gifts. Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son. They shunned the miraculous power of Jesus that was flowing from Him and they belittled him. It is foolish to try to synchronize spiritual gifts with human ability.

3.     Seditious: Unbelief made them rebellious. And they took offense at Him. They took offense because he preached powerfully and performed miracles! Disbelieving rebels would question even the miracles of God and shut the door of grace from flowing into their lives.

Hence, Jesus could not perform any miracles because of their unbelief!

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Prayer: Father God, help me not to be terrified by the prediction of the world but teach me to live under the radar of your divine provision. Amen
