19 April 2023 – Because – Part 4

1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

We are overcomers because the Lord God who is in us is greater than the enemy who comes against us. The vision of the power and authority residing in us should be bigger than the challenges that we face. Victory is hidden in the truth that we believe in our heart. The secret of victory is the attitude of our mind and not our aptitude or our ability. We face unexpected disappointments, redundancies, relationships issues or financial challenges just like the people of the world. The people of the world who have not put their trust in God will resort to distractions, drugs or drinks to numb their anxiety. If we allow the world to influence us fear, frustration and fury will strangle us.

When we face the same challenges, God in us must become bigger than the problems that come against us. When who is on the inside is bigger than the problems on the outside, we will overcome and conquer. God will become bigger on the inside when we meditate on His power and promises more than the words of people. What we munch on over and over will become the sap and strength of our soul. God must be bigger than our problems. The power of God resides in us. That power is the same as the mighty strength He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead (Ephesians 1:20). The same mighty strength of God that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us. The vision of the Almighty and All-powerful God in us is the source and the strength of victory.

Because the one who is in you is bigger than the one in the world:

1.     Mind: Victory starts in your mind. Have a success mentality. Don’t live in a poverty mentality. See yourself above the problems, diagnosis or challenge. And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, (Deuteronomy 28:13). Mind is the battlefield where we win our battles.

2.     Meditate: Meditate on the promises of God not the problems. Evaluate the time that you spend thinking about an issue. If we are engrossed with the prognosis or the problem, we are meditating on the wrong substance. Ruminating over the problem and cringing in fear will make God smaller on the inside and our problems bigger on the outside.

3.     Magnify: God can never be made bigger than He already is but as we meditate on His mighty power, threatening news will become smaller and smaller and our faith will become bigger and bigger.

Problems propel us into a mega success and promotion, when God in us is bigger than the crisis. We overcome because the one who is in us is bigger than the one in the world.

Psalm 34:3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

Prayer: Almighty Father, help me to overcome the fear that makes you small on the inside by reiterating your promises and ruminating on your greatness.  Amen.
