25 May 2023 – Delight in the Lord – Part 5

Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal faithfully are His delight.

“Love God, love people. Act justly, love mercy, walk humbly. Treat people as you want to be treated. If you want to be great, be a servant.” — Jen Hatmaker.

Integrity and authenticity greatly pleases God. We become God’s delight when we are faithful in all our dealings. He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8). To respond justly would be to stand for the truth and not to support or be silent to deceit. Those who act justly will not listen to gossip even about their enemy who has harmed or defamed them. The just will not return harm for the evil that was done to them. Those who act justly will not falsely accuse others or shift blame in order to appear to be holy or pure. They will be merciful to all. They will pray for their enemies and will be forgiving to those who have hurt them. Above all, they will wear the garment of humility. Ego, boasting and conceit will be absent in their conversation.

God delights in those who are faithful to Him and to mankind. Moses did everything just as the LORD commanded him (Exodus 40:16). Moses did not miss a thing! The Lord God had given him volumes of detailed instructions to construct the tabernacle. Moses did not make any alteration to the size, position or measurements of the specifications. He meticulously followed every step. God honours faithfulness. Moses was one of the Old Testament saints who visited Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus (Matthew 17:3). Moses was sent along with Elijah as messengers from heaven to comfort and encourage Jesus before His death on the cross. Faithfulness promoted Moses from the ‘pastor of Israel’ to the ‘Ambassador of Heaven’.

The faithful are God’s delight:

1.     Faithfulness: Being faithful with the little pleases God greatly and is the pathway to greatness. “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much” (Luke 16:10). Exercising a spirit of excellence at our job, home and relationships sets us up for promotion. Faithfulness in the little, meager and minor delights the heart of God and prepares us for expansion.

2.     Favour: Faithfulness floods our frontier with favour. Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men (Proverbs 22:28). Excellence in the meager and minor tasks assigned to us will inundate us with God’s favour.

3.     Forward: Faithfulness moves us forward. We don’t have to go out of our way to please our boss or please people. Faithfulness to everyone and with everything will move us forward.

Faithfulness and integrity delights the heart of God.

Hebrews 3:5 “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house”.

Prayer: Father in Heaven, give me the tenacity to be faithful in the meager, to be assigned major missions for You. Amen.
