29 May 2023 – Impossible – Part 2

Matthew 19:26: “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

If you’re not daring to believe God for the impossible, your sleeping through some of the best parts of your Christian life – Steven Furtick

Miracles are the outcome of simple faith that trusts God for the impossible. Faith is the calmness and the reverberating voice of the soul that assures “God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6b). Believing God for what can happen is not faith. Faith is not being happy when the sun is shining and the spring flowers are smiling. Faith is serenity through the dark storm clouds. Faith is the sturdiness in our walk even when we walk on slippery and unstable grounds. Faith believes God for the impossible.

Have you been praying and waiting for a change of heart for a family member, friend, spouse or child? Does it look impossible? Our God is the God of impossibilities. The episode of the rich man’s encounter with Jesus teaches us a very profound lesson. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 19:23a). The disciples were bewildered at the comment of Jesus.  They asked Him, “Who then can be saved?” (Vs 23). Jesus replied with human efforts and wisdom it is impossible but with God all things are possible. Only God can transform a person’s heart, mind and thinking. What constant nagging, counseling or therapy cannot do, God will do in a few seconds. Trust God for the Saul to become Paul. Trust the hardened heart of stone to become soft and malleable. Trust God for the impossible.

With man it is impossible but with God all things are possible:

1.     Possible: God does not expect us to do the impossible. Doing the impossible is God’s job but our part is to do the possible. Pray, fast, plead and petition with perseverance. Don’t give up. Doubt your doubts but don’t doubt God. Don’t see a dark destiny but a bright future even in the hopeless pit. Obedience in the natural is the door to experience the supernatural.

2.     Probable: Researching on ‘the probabilities’ will weaken our faith. Planning is not wrong but backup strategies, incase God fails, will setup the stage for failure. Probabilities, ifs, and buts have their analyses on the possibilities. Take your eyes away from the possibilities and anchor on the impossibilities.

3.     Potency: Faith is not rooted on our strength but on God’s potency. When the situation turns from bad to worse it’s time for the supernatural power and potency of God to operate.

Trusting God for the impossible outcome honours God and unlocks the floodgates of heaven.

Psalm 77:14 You are the God Who performs miracles; You display Your power among the peoples.

Prayer: Father in Heaven, I will trust you for the impossible as with my own human strength, influence and understanding it is impossible but with you all things are possible. Amen.
