26 June 2023 – God’s Insurance Policy – Part 2

Exodus 3:18 ‘I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—a land flowing with milk and honey.’

The Lord God had promised Abraham land, building and contents insurance. The insurance policy extended beyond the lifetime of Abraham into his generations to come. It was the insurance cover of Abraham that was activated through Moses. God remembered His covenant with Abraham, and honoured His insurance policy signed with Abraham, almost 400 years after his death! God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob (Exodus 2:24). They even had divine travel insurance for their journey. Yet the LORD says, “During the forty years that I led you through the wilderness, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet (Deuteronomy 29:5). The journey of Exodus was covered by God’s insurance policy.

Our journey on earth is the exodus that takes us through wilderness, valleys and mountains. For every part of our journey we are covered by God’s divine insurance policy until we reach our heavenly home. As children of Abraham we also come under Father Abraham’s covenantal cover. “If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:29).  The covenantal cover includes posterity, progeny and legacy. The only condition attached to the covenantal insurance cover is to walk blamelessly and faithfully before the Lord. “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless (Genesis 17:1a). Our sincere walk with the Lord keeps us under the Sovereign covenantal cover.

Covenantal Insurance Cover:

1.     Initiate: Our obedience, integrity and faithfulness ignite the covenantal insurance cover. They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit (Isaiah 65:21).  The fruit of honesty and humility is righteousness and ‘righteous living’ pulls the canopy of God’s protection and provision over our lives. Initiate the insurance policy by choosing righteousness.

2.     Cultivate: Cultivate a culture that will cover your generations. They will not labor in vain, nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the Lord, they and their descendants with them (Isaiah 65:23).  Righteousness and holiness are like seeds that produce a Godly generation. Cultivate a covenantal culture.

3.     Activate: Activate the covenantal cover by proclamation and promulgation. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up (Deuteronomy 6:7&9). Make the covenantal insurance cover visual and vocal. Declaration and discussion activates the covenantal insurance cover.

We are covered by a divine land, home, building, contents and travel insurance under the covenantal insurance policy.

Deuteronomy 6:11 The houses will be richly stocked with goods you did not produce. You will draw water from cisterns you did not dig, and you will eat from vineyards and olive trees you did not plant..

Prayer: Father in Heaven, what a comfort it is for me to know that not only my home in heaven but all my possessions and inheritances on earth are also protected by You. Amen.
