Matthew 8:17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.

Jesus did not use the excerpts in Matthew 8:17 as a negative undertone; it was a clip-on to the previous verse. “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.” (Matthew 8:16). When the light of the world, Jesus, shines in our lamp, He will reveal the deep secrets about nature and the goodness of God. The light will shine into the darkness and bring many to the truth. We will shine as His lights only when we spend time in the secret prayer closet. God is waiting in the secret place to make us glow and glimmer His love into the hopeless world.
All the answers to our questions are there in the secret place. The diabolical questions such as, ‘Where is God when bad things happen to good people?’ or “Why is there poverty, sickness and hatred in this world?’, are questions that no theologian, apologist or psychologist can answer. The answers to all the doom and darkness are in the secret place. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory (2 Corinthians 4:6).
God is waiting for us in the secret place to reveal secrets. There will be nothing hidden to those who spend time with Him in the secret place of prayer. The Lord God discussed His plans about the sinful and wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah with Abraham. These cities were like the Las Vegas of that time. Then the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do? (Genesis 18:17).
Are you confused, worried or perplexed about anything? Then spend more time in the secret place – for there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed.
Secrets are revealed in the secret place:
1. Alerts: God-alerts will drop into our heart when we spend time with God. Things that we did not even think about will drop down like reminders. God alerted Abraham about the destruction of the city where his nephew Lot and his family were residing. Hence, Abraham could pray Lot’s family out of destruction.
2. Answers: Godly advice and answers are waiting for us in the secret place. The Lord God will be waiting for us ahead of time before we drag ourselves out of our cozy bed into our prayer corner.
3. Anchor: The anchor of hope is found in the secret place. We will go with all our inhibitions but leave the secret place ‘secure’ and ‘serene’.
The secret place is the chamber of divine secrets.
Deuteronomy 32:2 Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass like abundant rain on tender plants.
Prayer: Father God, help me to tap into your deep secrets that are hidden in the secret prayer closet by spending more and more time with you. Amen.
