04 September 2023 – Stay Young – Part 2

Joshua 14:10b-11 I am eighty-five years old today. I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.

Regular exercise slows cell aging. Researchers have found that exercise can keep our cells healthy and young. Exercise does not stop you from aging but slows down the process of aging. Benefits of exercising are not just to look younger, (that is only a bumper bonus); staying active extends to your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.

Caleb was 85 years old when he conquered the fortified, mountainous territory of Hebron. The warrior had the same strength that he had when he was 40 years at 85 years! His strength did not come from the gymnasium but from his prayer coliseum. Caleb did not stop dreaming and his zeal to fight and possess the blessings did not die with age. Keeping the mind refreshed and resetting setbacks will make us emotionally strong. Emotional energy converts to physical strength. A mindset to retire, relax and rest will make our brains rust. As much as rest and relaxation are necessary it must be part of our daily life and not the goal of our life. We must never stop dreaming big dreams and fighting towards the vision passionately.

Keep your dreams and vision young and alive. “We start dying the day we stop dreaming. And ironically, we start living the day we discover a dream worth dying for.” — Mark Batterson.

Fighters remain young throughout their life:

1.     Rest: Rest is very important as an overworked body is a prey to the devil. We become very vulnerable to the attack of the demonic when we are worn-out physically. However, a mindset to retire and do nothing will kill our vision for the future. We only retire from seasons not from our calling or our commission.

2.     Relax: Relaxing must rejuvenate us to rebound into our next mission. It must not ruin our commission. Many have a very wrong idea that relaxation is having fun by breaking boundaries and values. Relaxation is to take time to germinate new ideas, thoughts and visions.

3.     Rust: Idle mind is the devil’s workshop. ‘As iron is eaten away by rust, so the envious are consumed by their own passion’ – Ezra Cornell. Caleb had to wait for his Promised Land for 45 years yet he did not let his brain or his dreams rust. Caleb worked-out in the wilderness and mountains for 45 years and trained himself for the great invasion while others wasted their time gossiping and grouching in their tents. The mental exercise of praise, prayer and proclamation keeps our mind polished and our bodies energized.

As long as your dream is alive you are alive. So, dream big. Dreamers and fighters never grow old.

Joshua 14:12 Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.”

Prayer: Father God, may my passion to serve you never die. Help me to keep dreaming and fighting for what you have called me to do. Amen.
