15 October 2023 – Open Doors – Part 1

Job 3:25 What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me.

Fear opens the door to the enemy and gives the demonic a foothold in our lives. Many are unaware that fear, and anxiety are sins. When we are anxious about our circumstances, we magnify the problem to be bigger than the Lord God who is in control of the cosmos. “Fear is the lengthened shadow of ignorance.” — Arnold Glasow. Trust in the Lord roots us in the firm foundation of ‘love’. “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18). We can only love a person whom we can trust and love will drown all fear. The only antidote to ‘fear’ is ‘love’. When we understand the ‘perfect love of God’, we will not be apprehensive about our future, finances or family. God will make all things work together for good to those who love Him.

Fear of man is a snare and the fear of demons is silly. Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe (Proverbs 29:25). No man can give or take away anything from us. No manager, politician or power can alter a single thing in our lives. But not a hair of your head shall be lost (Luke 21:18), without the Master’s permission. It’s normal to shed 50 to 100 hairs a day and not a hair will fall without God’s knowledge. So, the Lord God Almighty has the final say over our prognosis, promotion and progress.

However, the demonic scavengers constantly inflict us with fear that can turn into “pathological anxiety”. Pathological anxiety is an exaggerated state of fear where our behavioral response to the fear becomes uncontrollable. Fear is a spirit.  For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Panic, dread and terror is not from God. It is a device that the demonic realm uses to sneak into our lives and ravage it.

Don’t give room to fear:

1.     Dread: Dread turns into a demonic hold when we give room to it. We should not respond to bad news the way the world reacts to it. He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD (Psalm 112:7). Trust dissolves dread.

2.     Despair: Despair or hopelessness chokes faith and kills trust. Despondency leads to depression. Thinking and talking and wallowing in hopelessness invites the demonic to take control of our mind. Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations (Romans 4:18). Defeat despair and trust Jesus more than the jeopardy.

3.     Death: Fear of death is a demonic attack. Fear of ‘suicide’, ‘early death’ and ‘accidents’ are direct attack from hell. Speak God’s word and drive the spirit of fear and death.

Entertaining dread, despair and the fear of death gives a foothold to the devil and leaves an open door for the demonic ghetto.

Psalm 91:16 I will satisfy you with a long life. I will show you how I will save you.

Prayer: Dearest Jesus, give me the tenacity to drive out all fear with the power of your Word. Amen.
