Roman 1:21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Psychological and emotional problems such as depression, anxiety and panic attacks have risen by 13% over the past 10 years. The world’s leading disorder is depression and the pandemic has surged the number of people suffering from depression to an unbelievably high number. There has been a steep decline in the fear of the Lord from the early 1900 with technological advancement. With an overload of information atheism and antagonism have usurped faith in the Living God. Parliaments have stopped honouring God and schools refrain from teaching the wonders of God. Faithlessness and promiscuous lifestyles have increased the number of people in prison, hospitals and rehabs and mental health has deteriorated drastically.
Faith in God brings godly understanding. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command (Hebrews 11:3a). Without faith we can only gather knowledge not wisdom. Wisdom is godly understanding but knowledge is just an information dump. Messy minds are a result of godlessness, futile thinking and darkened hearts.
Our mind is the set of faculties which thinks, imagines, feels and senses. In other words our thinking, emotions and will/desires are controlled by the control panel called “mind”. “The brain is not the mind. You are not your brain. You are your mind and you use your brain and that’s a very distinctive difference” – Dr. Caroline Leaf. The brain is the physical organ that helps the mind to think, feel and desire. In other words, your mind chooses what your brain should think and feel. Your mind is our personality that drives the brain to respond to our choices as feelings, emotions and wants. The mind is the soul.
The minds of those who reject God are directed by their senseless thinking. It is impossible to understand the Creator of the universe with the brain that He created.
A godless generation has allowed the dark demonic world to mess their mind:
1. Futile: Futile thinking leads to fruitless arguments. Hours of explanation will not crack open the darkened mind; only faith can turn futility into fertility.
2. Foolish: When the fear of the Lord is missing, the choices of the mind are foolish. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good (Psalm 14:1). It takes more faith to believe that there is no God than to believe in Him. Astronomers have discovered that there are 100 to 400 BILLION planets in our galaxy alone and not one of them have ever collided with each other as the Lord God controls them all from heaven. However, the godless, foolishly argue that there is no God.
3. Fret: Fear of God brings godly understanding and courage. Godlessness has drowned the world in fear, anxiety, depression and fret.
Messy minds are a result of rejecting the reverential fear of God.
Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family.
Prayer: Lord God, I will put my trust in you. You are the answer to all the fearful insinuations that threaten me. Amen.
