05 November 2023 – Eagle’s Eye – Part 1

Isaiah 31:5 The LORD of Armies will defend Jerusalem like a hovering bird. He will defend it and rescue it. He will pass over it and protect it.

“Eagle’s Eyes means a person who is watchful and careful to notice even the very small details and the minute specks.

Eagle’s vision is exceptionally sharp. A bald eagle can see four or five times farther than perfect human eyes can see as they have 20/4 or 20/5 vision. A human eye has 20/20 vision. Eagles have binocular vision. They use both their eyes together to see ahead which gives them depth perception (three dimensional views). Hence they are able to assess the length, width and depth and judge how far away an object is. Further, the cones in the eagle’s fovea are very small and tightly grouped, allowing the eagle to see small details from extreme distances. A bald eagle can spot a prey, the size of a rabbit, three miles away!

The Lord watches over His children like a hovering bird. He can see ahead into the future. He knows what is around the blind corner and looks into the unknown future. I declare the end from the beginning, and ancient times from what is still to come (Isaiah 46:10). A hovering bird circles around the nest and his hatchling (baby birds) that are naked, weak and helpless. They remain in the nest until they grow feathers and can fly. The father bird’s job is to hover over the nest to protect their helpless hatchlings. When they sense danger they attack the predators until they chase them away. A daddy bird hovering and protecting his hatchlings is the panoramic portrayal of the Lord God watching over His chosen!

We are never helpless, powerless or vulnerable. The Lord Almighty has His eagle’s eye on us. The armies of the Lord of Hosts are encircling us. So we are never alone. We are surrounded by the eagle’s eyes of the Lord Almighty and the armies of the Lord of Hosts.

The Lord’s Eagle’s Eyes:

1.     Hatchling: There are times we are like helpless hatchlings completely exposed to the harshness of the crisis and the cruelty of the reality but the watchful eyes of our Lord are upon His nestling. He has promised never to forsake us. So, when you feel vulnerable remember His eagle’s eyes are watching over you.

2.     Hovering: The armies of the Lord of Hosts are hovering over us, our possessions and our propositions. We are well protected by the hovering angelic hosts.

3.     Helping: Ariel angelic helpers are far better than the terrestrial collaborators. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them (Psalm 34:7). The Army of the Lord of Hosts is powerful and reliable but human helpers are frail and flail.

The Eagle Eyes of the Lord are watching over us to protect us from any harm. We are not helpless hatchlings.

Job 39:27&29 Does the eagle soar at your command and build its nest on high? …. From there it hunts its prey, keeping watch with piercing eyes.

Prayer: Father God, help me not to forget that your eyes are hovering over me 24/7. Thank you Lord for watching over my future with eagle’s eyes. Amen.
