09 November 2023 – Eagle’s Eye – Part 5

Esther 6:3 “What honor and recognition has Mordecai received for this?” the king asked. “Nothing has been done for him,” his attendants answered.

An “Eagle Eye” means a person who is watchful and careful to notice even the very small details and the minute specks.

The Eagle Eyes of the Lord will spot the faithful and integrous. Many times integrity and honesty are seldom recognized as valuable virtues by worldly authorities. Flatterers and hypocrites receive the recognition. The garrulous and outspoken gain more attention than the genuine hard-worker. However what human eyes fail to see will be spotted by the eagle eyes of the Lord.

The honorable deed of Mordecai, an exile in the citadel of Susa, was overlooked by the king. Mordecai was the cousin of Esther. His profession is not specified but it is believed that he was one of the armed guards at the entrance of the palace (Esther 2:19). While he was on duty he exposed the plot of two gatekeepers who connived to assassinate King Xerxes. And when the report was investigated and found to be true, the two officials were impaled on poles. All this was recorded in the book of the annals in the presence of the king. (Esther 2:23). But Mordecai was neither recognized nor honoured for his nobility.

The life of King Xerxes was saved, but the one who saved his life was forgotten; however, the King of Kings did not forget about Mordecai. Approximately 5 years later, the king suffered from insomnia one night, so he ordered the book of the chronicles, the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him (Esther 6:1b). This is when he realized that Mordecai was neither honoured nor recognized for the stupendous deed of saving his life.

If you have been ignored, unnoticed, overlooked or disregarded don’t be frustrated. What misses the human eyes will be spotted by the King of Kings.

The Lord’s Eagle Eyes:

1.     Praise: The Lord God stole the sleep of King Xerxes to bring Mordecai to his attention. Xerxes did the most unthinkable when he was restless. He asked for history books to be read to him while there were entertainers waiting on him. God will steal the sleep of our authorities and make them go through archives to turn their attention towards us.

2.     Prize: The Lord God preserved the award for the accomplishment for 5 years and brought it to the king’s attention at the right time. The enemy of Mordecai was entering the palace that very morning with a plan to hang Mordecai on the pole but the Lord God turned the tables upside down and honoured him instead.

3.     Promotion: If Mordecai was recognized as soon as he exposed the murderers he would have received a monetary gift but the Lord delayed the recognition in order to make him prominent. Your delayed recognition will magnify into a prominent promotion.

The Eagle Eyes of the Lord will spot honesty, integrity and faithfulness.

Proverbs 22:29 If you see a man who is skilled in his work, remember that he will serve kings; he will not stand before common people.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I will patiently wait to be recognized by you King Jesus. Your hands are bigger than the hands of man. Amen.
