Exodus 12:35-36 The Israelites did as Moses instructed and asked the Egyptians for articles of silver and gold and for clothing. The Lord had made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for; so they plundered the Egyptians.
The mystery of God’s ‘law of multiplication’ and ‘miracle money’ is mindboggling. “Wealth and honor come from You; You are the ruler of all things” (1 Chronicles 29:12). When God created Adam, He gave him work before He gave him a wife. Honest wage for hard work is the law of increase and multiplication. It is wrong to laze around and pray for miracle money. Apostle Paul has given us clear instructions regarding work-life balance. “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.” (1 Thessalonians 3:10). However, when we are overworked, oppressed and underpaid, God will fight the battle of paucity with the law of multiplication and miracle money. We cannot sit back and allow people to steal our time, energy and skills for meager wages. Go to war in the war-room of prayer to unlock the treasures of miracle money.
Israelites were cheated and subjugated in Egypt for 400 years. They were in Egypt for 430 years. The first few years, they lived as first class citizens while Joseph was Pharaoh’s right hand man. But the next four centuries their status deteriorated. The last century they were under the tyranny of the Egyptians. So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor (Exodus 1:11a). They probably worked without wages, holidays and working hours. Their lives were embittered with harsh labour and menial jobs. They were roasted under the scorching desert sun as they laboured as farm and construction workers. They neither had labour laws or employment contracts but the God of heaven and earth was their employment advocate. It was the Moses generation who suffered the most in Egypt during the last century of their slavery but they were able to reclaim 400 years of wages as miracle money! So they plundered the Egyptians.
Law of multiplication and miracle money:
1. Overworked: If you are overworked, overwhelmed and underpaid, your returns are compounding interest. Our God is a God of justice. “I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; My justice was like a robe and a turban (Job 29:14). He clothes Himself with justice. Our justice for being marginalized, ostracized and criticized is compounding interest and will be repaid according to God’s law of multiplication.
2. Oppressed: God is the defender of those who have no defense attorney. Uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed (Psalm 82:3b). There is no lawsuit that He has lost!
3. Oracle: The oracle against unjust treatment and unlawful management is Isaiah 61:7- “Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance”. God will repay double for our trouble.
Oppression will accumulate miracle money with compound interest.
Psalm 125:3a For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for being my defender and employment attorney to fight against oppression and marginalization. Help me to recover all that I have lost. Amen.
