20 December 2023 – Talking Book – Part 4

Jeremiah 1:8 Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you,” says the LORD.

The Talking Book speaks courage into our fretting hearts. The voice of God through His Word drives away fear. Fret will flee and fright would disappear into thin air when we learn to tune-in to hear the voice of God through His Word. Jesus said, The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life (John 6:63). Panic, dread and anxiety will take flight and peace, strength, stillness and serenity will settle-in when the Talking Book starts speaking to us. The Talking Book will annul anxiety and apprehension.

Jeremiah was reluctant and terrorized to carry the message and accomplish the assignment given to Him as he was young and the prophetic message was not a pleasant one. It was a hard message to digest. But the Lord assured Him not to be afraid. God’s Word strengthened Jeremiah over and over again – “Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them (vs 17a). Jeremiah was nicknamed the ‘Weeping Prophet’, as he wept for his nation that was taken into captivity by the Babylonians.

The Talking Book, the Bible will equip us, empower and energize us to fulfill our purpose, calling and assignment. Fear and frenzy would bow at the voice of God.

Fear flees and courage fortifies at the voice of the Talking Book:

1.     Fear: Anxiety to address a crowd can make our thoughts freeze and tongue tied. Fear augments to a different level of stress and panic when the message that we have to deliver is a message of doom. The Lord touched the tongue of Jeremiah to deliver the message courageously. Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth (vs 9). The Talking Book drives out fear and instills courage.

2.     Foray: The words and voice of the Talking Book assures protection from foray and attack of the evil doers. “For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a WALL of FIRE all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst’” (Zechariah 2:5).

3.     Frenzy: The Talking Book gives us the reassurance that fury and frenzy of the enemy will not touch us. The Word of the Lord made Jeremiah as strong as a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand boldly and deliver the message single handedly to the proud politicians, religious leaders and ruthless people.

The Bible is the living audible talking book that talks to us even today. The voice of the Talking Book dissipates fear, disperses foray and dilutes frenzy. When anxiety grips your heart, start reading the Bible until the Talking Book talks you out of fear.

Jeremiah 1:18 Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land.

Prayer: Father God, teach me to hear you when I read the Bible to drive out fear. Let your voice speak and strengthen my fluttering heart. Amen.
