Psalm 103:20 Bless the LORD, all His angels mighty in strength who carry out His word, who hearken to the voice of His command.
Both angels and demons are spirits. Angels hearken and obey the voice of God and carry out His commands. They are the Lord’s ambassadors and secret agents on earth. On the contrary demons are goaded and driven by the ruthless instructions to steal, kill and destroy by the devil. Demons are fallen disobedient spirits who were kicked out of heaven. They carry out the diabolical plans on earth. They are stalking, waiting and watching to pounce on us. The Lord said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.” (Job 1:7) While angels carry out God’s command, demons control humans and accomplish the demonic agenda on earth.
We hear about ‘demon possession’ or ‘demonic oppression’ but we have never heard of ‘angelic possession’. While angels are God’s secret agents sent to serve and help us, demons are masked thieves who crush, cage and control us. They lure the innocent and ignorant into cheap pleasures and enslave them into addictions.
Hence, spiritual warfare is the battle between the angels who defend us and demons that attack us. As we pray, angels are strengthened to overcome the lethal demonic gangsters. But for twenty-one days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia (Daniel 10:13). Prince of Persia was the territorial spirit that blocked the angel who brought the answer to Daniel.
Differences between angels and demons:
1. Comfort vs. Confusion: Angelic presence is comforting and consoling. The tangible presence of angels can be felt when we enjoy close fellowship with the Lord. An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him (Luke 22:43). Demons cause confusion, commotion and contention.
2. Convey vs. Condemn: Angels are God’s messengers. They bring messages, answers, warnings, directions and instructions to His children. The head of the messenger angels is the Archangel Gabriel.
3. Camp vs. Control: Angels are not just visitors, they inhabit with us. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them (Psalm 34:7). They are our divine security system. But demons creep-in to control us. “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him” (Mark 9:22b). Disobedience to God’s word, repeated transgressions, dabbling with the occult or witchcraft opens the door to the demonic to invade, oppress, possess or control.
Angels our God’s secret agents assigned to watch over us and protect us from the demonic stalkers.
1 Peter 5:8 Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for encompassing me the angelic protection and empowering me to set those who are controlled by demons, free. Amen.
