2 Kings 19:35 And that night the angel of the Lord went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.
Angels are powerful beings. Angels are not little chubby babies with tiny wings, lounging on a cloud, playing harps! They are referred to as “mighty angels”. He will come with his mighty angels (2 Thessalonians 1:7b). King Hezekiah went into the temple and spread the threatening letter from the King of Assyria before the Lord, and the Lord commanded one angel to wipe out the 185,000 armed Assyrian troops. The Lord had a covenant with Israel that He would fight their battles. For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory” (Deuteronomy 20:4). However, Israel did not even fight this battle; the night before the attack, the Lord sent an angel to strike down the fierce formidable enemy. The presence of the Lord was not necessary to annihilate the Assyrian enemies who hounded Judah. All it required was one mighty angel.
Angels execute the Lord’s command. Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word (Psalms 103:20). While the envious enemies of Daniel were waiting to throw Daniel into the lion’s den, the Lord sent His angel to shut the mouths of the lions. My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me (Daniel 6:22a). Again, there was only one angel to stitch the mouths of the rapacious beasts. The roaring lions became like purring pussy cats around Daniel as they saw the angel in the den. The ravenous monsters were tongue-tied and jaw-jammed at the sight of the angel!
We need not be afraid of the devil, the demons cringe and cover when we call upon the Lord for help. The Lord God will send an angel to eliminate those who assault us. The answer to our prayers for protection from the diabolical attacks would be angelic retaliation and reinforcement. The angel will shut the mouths of the demeanors and assailers.
Angels are powerful beings:
1. Retaliate: Don’t tremble or react to the threatening notice, emails or attacks by the derogatory assailant. The angel of the Lord is encamping around us and will retaliate before we are accosted. Do not react to the attack; allow the angel of the Lord to retaliate.
2. Retort: Don’t retort to slander. He will send his angels to shut the mouth of the detractors. The slanderer will be tongue-tied and jaw-jammed by the angel of the Lord. Don’t retort, just pray and rest.
3. Reinforcement: Don’t be afraid. We have the mighty angelic reinforcement around our domain.
Mighty angels are our mighty military defense force.
Matthew 18:10 “Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for assigning your mighty angels to defend us when we are assaulted and accosted. Amen.
