24 February 2024 – Angelic Alliance – Part 6

1 Chronicles 21:16 And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

Heavenly Angels are highly intelligent emotional spiritual beings but they do not exercise their own will. They do not make decisions based on their emotions but they execute God’s will and judgement on earth. They are mission oriented and will accomplish their assignment meticulously. ‘Messenger angels’ are divine heralds who bring God’s Word to us. ‘Combat angels’ are the warring angels. ‘Worship angels’ are the heavenly choir who fill the celestial with divine worship, songs and praise. “Cherubim” guard the throne of God and they are mighty in power (Ezekiel 10). “Seraphim” surround the throne of God (Isaiah 6). The Archangels are “Michael”, in-charge of the military (Jude 9) and “Gabriel”, the head of the messenger angels. Lucifer is the fallen angel and with him 1/3rd of the population of these divinely created beings fell into darkness. The Bible does not give us more details about how sin entered or infiltrated heaven but it tells us that the disobedient angels are doomed for the day of judgement (Jude 1:6-7). Hence for every attacking demon there are two mighty angels to fight against them (1:2).

Angels are not reactionary like humans but they exhibit ‘secondary emotions’. Their ears are tuned to God’s voice and the vocabulary of heaven and will execute the task assigned to them. And God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem. But as the angel was doing so, the Lord saw it and relented concerning the disaster and said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand.” The angel of the Lord was then standing at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite (1 Chronicles 21:15). The Lord sent an angel to execute the judgement on the disobedient nation but when the Lord said, “Enough” the angel stopped and stood still.

Praying to angels is profane and prohibited as they are created beings. Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you (Colossians 2:18).

Nature of Angels:

1.     Emotional: Angels exhibit secondary emotions. They are not reactionary as humans. We do not see an angel arguing with anyone or giving the Lord suggestions. They obey implicitly and execute God’s command scrupulously.

2.     Empowered: Angels are energetic, empowered and equipped to do their mission. They are not erratic or unpredictable. They cannot be manipulated. No demon can overpower an angel (Daniel 10:13).

3.     Executors: Angels are executors of God’s Word and will (Revelation 15:7). Angels partner with those who are obedient to God’s Word and accomplish His will.

Angels are divine administrative agents to execute God’s will on earth.

Hebrews 2:7a You have made him (man) a little lower than the angels;

Prayer: Father God, thank you for your empowered angelic administrators on earth who help me to accomplish your will. Amen.
