10 March 2024 – WWJD – Part 7

Acts 10:38 Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

The word “good” as an adjective is defined in the Oxford dictionary as “superior, high quality or standard”. Good as a noun means “virtuous”, “moral” and “ethically right” or “righteous”. However, over a period of time, morality has been marred and “love” has been redefined as “compromise”. Moral standards and fidelity have declined on the basis of ‘inclusiveness’. Truth is many times attacked as ‘hate speech’ or even labeled as ‘intolerance’.

Demonic oppressions have been redefined with fancy medical terms as deficiencies or grouped under sexual diversity. Jesus went around doing good. He healed, delivered and set people free from bondages. Those who were chained by oppression of disease were healed (Luke 13:16) and those caught in the vile addictions and wrong habits were delivered (John 8:1-11).  Jesus imparted the same anointing into each one of us to do the same. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give (Matthew 10:8). So we are empowered to do what Jesus did.

The intriguing question WWJD will bring clarity and validity to our choices and decisions. He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8). Jesus chose to love unconditionally, forgive generously and prioritized the wellbeing of others.  Love does not accept wrong as right. Love will seek the best for the other person. Mercy in simple terms is unassuming forgiveness.

“Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less,” C.S. Lewis.

DWJD – ‘Do What Jesus Did’ – Love unconditionally, forgive generously and walk humbly before Him.

1.     Selfless: Self, selfishness and self-centeredness must die. If the majority of our thoughts are about “I, me, myself” then we will not be able to do what Jesus did. A selfish person will never be able to rejoice in the success of others. Selfish person is egoistic and egocentric. The best tool to kill selfishness is ‘intercession’. Have a list of friends, family and foes and pray for them every day.

2.     Sacrificial: Sharing our time, talents and treasures until it hurts and eats into our comforts, is sacrificial giving. A kind person will give from their abundance but a good and godly person will give sacrificially.

3.     Servanthood: Servanthood mentality is incredibly important to do what Jesus did. Submission to God’s voice is the key to do what Jesus did. Obedience and submission are the arms of servanthood. Service without servanthood is only a feel-good entertainment to gain popularity. Jesus always put the broken, bound and burdened above Himself. Esteeming others above ourselves will help us to do what Jesus did.

WWJD – Love, forgive and esteem the needs of others above your own, just like Jesus did – DWJD.

Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.

Prayer: Father God, guide me to do what you would do everywhere, every time and to everyone. Amen.
