29 March 2024 – Mind Makeover – Part 5

1 Corinthians 2:16 For, “Who can know the LORD’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.

To have the mind of Christ does not mean to become like robots that do not have a mind of our own. It is not even ‘Artificial Intelligence’ (AI) that can process and analyze large amounts of data to produce results and smart decisions. The AI software is designed to recognize patterns, make informed decisions and judge like humans but AI can only process information or data that is fed into the machine. It is an intelligent software but not insightful.  However, walking in close communion with Jesus will morph our perceptions and insights to align with Christ Jesus. To have the mind of Christ is to think, feel and desire like Jesus.

Mind of Christ does not draw conclusions based on facts but will see beyond the facts into the truth through the divine lens. As long as our emotions, intellect and feelings are sensual and factual, we are far away from divine thinking. To have the mind of Christ is to change our views from the terrestrial to celestial. The mountain at ground level will look indomitable but the view of the mountain from a helicopter is breathtaking and captivating. The view is very different from the top-down than bottom-up.

Changing our position will change our perception about the problem.

If we feed a set of adverse medical results into AI software, it will give us an unfavourable prognosis based on the facts but those who have the mind of Christ will feed on God’s promises and not on the medical diagnosis. The mind is aligned with the thoughts of God and not perturbed by the problems. Defeating negative thoughts and surrendering our views to the vision of Jesus will give us a mind makeover.  Those who think through the mind of Christ will not become worried, whiney or weary but will be eternally focused.

Renewing the Mind is to think like Jesus:

1.         WorryDon’t worry but only worship. Worry is the aftermath of fear of negative outcomes based on a sequence of events or evidence. But a renewed mind that thinks like Jesus is serene and stilled on the promises of God.

2.         WhineDon’t whine but win. Whining is a learnt behaviour of people who think they are not heard or understood but those who think like Jesus are confident not in the acceptance of people but the omnipotence of God.

3.         WearyDon’t become weary, workout! When you are spiritually weary, start a spiritual workout such as, reading the New Testament in one month or signing up for a challenging spiritual disciple, ‘fasting’ or ‘prayer walk’. As workout warms the body, spiritual workout ignites the spirit.

“Healthy mind is the key to a healthy man”.

Romans 8:6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.

Prayer: Father God, help me to overcome worrying, whining and weariness by renewing my mind to think like Christ Jesus.  Amen.
